It occurred to me today while taking a crap on the company clock that life is like a game of Tetris. It starts out slowly, and you have plenty of time to figure things out. You can see far enough into the foreseeable future to come up with a solid game plan and everything to falls nicely into place. Life is good. You're able to save a little and have a backup plan for the unexpected. However, its not long before life starts coming at you faster and faster. You still can see what lies ahead, but no longer have the luxury of planning for the unknown. In an effort to get things back on track, you quickly decide to go ahead and call in that ace in the hole you've been hanging onto for so long. Except things still aren't lining up the way you'd hoped, and now you're beginning to question every move. The problem is that time is of the essence, and gaps are beginning to form in your overall plan. Before you know it, you no longer even have a plan or time to even consider your options. Everything you do is strictly a reaction to past mistakes and disappointments. Finally, you're forced to give up on your hopes and dreams. Eventually forced to come to the realization that no one lives forever, each frantic move only brings you closer to the inevitable, until suddenly, its GAME OVER.

This is life we all strain
While we pray for dollars and we work for change
It's all the same we all struggle
Sometimes you gotta say fuck you

i guess but in life you normally have the chance to adjust. in tetris you don't? unless you do in that version. i don't know what it is haha

oh no it isn't at all. but you usually have some wiggle room. in tetris, you don't. once you put that L down, you are done.

^^ yea but the past doesn't always determine your future. something bad doesn't always lead to something bad in the future. there's always a LITTLE wiggle room. even though it sucks and wiggling isn't easy.

that's not a bad metaphor at all

I find it to be more like a minefield, though

just watch your step, and you're all right...but one slip-up, one false step, and BAM!

It's more like Super Mario Bros. you run and jump through hoops, saving up your money along the way only to end up with some frumpy, airheaded bitch who doesn't put out.

only segments of your life are like Pac Man. I haven't glided around in dark rooms, listening to repetitive music and chomping down on random pills since college.

What the hell is your "ace in the hole" in tetris?

its the piece that you can hold onto until a spot opens up for it and then swap out the piece in play for the one you were holding. for me, its usually the stick. after i play the stick, i'll forget i've already used it and then try to use it again, only it got traded for the useless square block and everything begins to turn to shit.

Dude you're 27. Are you having a 1/3 life crisis or something?

Unless you have a couple kids you should be able to deal with some bad luck and misfortune and get started out once again.

^^ i wish i was still 27.

actually, i can't complain too much. although things haven't exactly turned out the way i'd hoped back when i was in college, it could be a lot worse. its all about perspective, i just need to refocus. no biggie.

this was mainly a thread dedicated to playing tetris while taking a crap on the company clock, in a backhanded way.

Life is like GTA. You have so many responsibilities and things that you can do to get ahead in life, but you let all of that fall by the wayside when you get the sudden urge to kill hookers.

i'm having a 1/4 life crisis. if anyone wants perspective, talk to me!! well, it might not give you perspective, but my life can probably make you feel better about your life. i compare myself to children in africa, and usually feel better. you know... perspective
