so this is a loungesque topic, but it might get more pertinent feedback here.

I bought a great 1 piece swimsuit that is too short in the body. I sent it back and got the next bigger size, and its still too short. so now I am thinking about cutting it and making a couple of hems to have a takini instead so it wont be riding up and down. Ive sewn plenty of stuff before, just not swimsuit material, so i was hoping to get some college of textiles people to weigh in.

should i get a special knit needle for the spandex? should i elasticize the top or bottom? what kind of thread should i use?

thanks guyz (gals really)! !
