i feel bad for the child... not for her.

if you are going to have kids (and you are female), perhaps you shouldn't join a job which will take you AWAY from your child for years, THE FORMATIVE YEARS OF THE POOR CHILD'S LIFE.

i would even consider it as child neglect/passive cruelty.

she could have chosen to become a cashier at walmart (if she is uneducated), and been with her child. she chose to join and go.

She may have decided beforehand or something, I don't know how that works since she was the one that got pregnant and had to be out for 9 months if so.

However, the Active Reserve is a bitch and not fair to anyone.

yeah well that's what i mean.

DON'T join the military if you are female, unless you:

1) hate kids and will never have them
2) won't have kids till you are much older
3) hate your own kids
4) are a lesbian
5) don't have lilttle kids (they are all grown up, i.e., at least 15+)

but if you are the average female 18-25 years in age and don't fit in any of the categories above, don't join (statistically speaking, you will probably end up having kids soon)

men are different, because stereotypical men, esp the ones who join the military, are macho and can stay away from their families for much longer than women can. and this is a biological fact. (it is still not good for the children or the wife)

but yeah, if you are not that type of man, don't join. i know i could never be away from my child.

no way man. women are crucial to the military. who else is going to spread their legs on those long lonely deployments? This isn't Vietnam... not many "I love you long time" persuasions going on anymore. Most of the prostitutes are army women now.

0EPII1 you dont know what you are talking about and should never comment on this subject again... what about those couples who have a kid, a parent joins the army to better thier family's life, and then get deployed, seriously do not ever comment on this subject again

why what you gonna do? shoot me?

a mother should always stay with the child. america can't be called a rich country if some women are forced to join the army to "better their family's life" and leave infants and toddlers behind. husband makes no money? if divorced, child support? jobs at home for mother? if no jobs, move in with parents until mother finds job? government benefits? let the father go join the army. there are so many avenues.

i am thinking about the kids here. kids should always have their mother with them. a mother should never leave babies and go to another country to work. yeah, women from indonesia, sri lanka, india, and philippines do it. they leave their families behind and go work as maids and nannies in rich arab countries. it is sad. they do it because the pittance they earn in the arab countries is still several times what they would earn back home, IF they can get a job back home. but seriously, the US >>>>>>>>>>>>> poor asian countries.

STFU crazy_carl

^
And I think that both parents should stay. You may feel that mothers are more important, and perhaps they are, but no child should have to be raised by a single parent.

^ well of course i agree. if tww knows anything about me, they should know that.

but under dire cirumstances where there is no way out (i.e., the family would have no roof over them or food to eat), the father could go. but never the mother. (unless it is the example i gave of poor asian women going abroad to work as maids/nannies, where it is understandable, but still not good for anybody involved)

Why is this sadness?

It could be sadness. It could also be happiness. It could also be completely fake.

The only sure thing is that this thread fucking sucks.
