i guess cause its on MASN (i'm guessing)

Orioles, Nationals, Braves and Reds are in this market

TBS - Braves
Fox Sports - Reds
MASN - Orioles, Nationals

* MASN is not available to cable subscribers in Charlotte, but they still black out O's and Nats games on Extra Innings

lets see what Jason Motte has for STL

gave up a double on his 1st pitch

he has some heat

needs to work on his control though...no wild pitches, but lucky to not have a passed ball or two...STL catchers better get used to it though

yup

we're now in year 3 of TWC vs MASN/MLB blackout in parts of NC

from what i understand:

TWC only wants to carry it if they can charge for it on a sports tier, MASN/MLB want it on regular cable

judges have ordered TWC on separate occasions to carry MASN, but thanks to the court of appeals system, TWC has been able to leave it off the lineup

it's my understanding that you can't even watch O's in Extra Innings (which carries "all" the games)

i'm not sure, but it feels like once in a while there's an O's game on one of those HD "special events" channels, but it's pretty infrequent... so infrequent i never bother looking

a bonus to share the pain is that any time AL East teams like the yanks or the bosox play the o's you've either gotta find it on the internet or you can be one of those Direct TV people who get all excited when things like this happen...

(in the end, all television providers blow, so it's just a matter of tradeoffs)

Hopefully better times are ahead. Still don't see why they didn't make a move for Putz or Saito.

^^I already dropped Motte for Felipe Lopez

I only picked up Motte because I had a few people on the DL and basically could pick SOMEBODY up for "free" (no roster spot since DL)...but I already have Joe Nathan, Chad Qualls, and Frank Francisco, but I didn't have a backup 2B or SS

This thread is extra relevant now that the god damn Tarholes won yesterday

interesting to hear the differences in the accents of the announcers on different channels

for example, the difference in the bluejays canuck ass announcers and the red sox bean eatin ass gamecallers

God, the free MLB EI makes me wonder why I would pay for the service. They blackout the Orioles and Nationals, yet their is no local carrier here (most of them are carried on MASN, which TWC doesn't carry, it isn't even an option from what I can tell). That is just stupid. ugh.

so Orlando Hudson hit for the cycle the other day...4/5 and he got his triple and his 4th hit to complete the cycle in the 6th inning

fast forward to today...Ian Kinsler says "I'll see your cycle and raise you"

Kinsler:

6 at bats, 6 hits, 2 singles, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun, 5 runs, 4 RBIs, 1 stolen base

what a fucking stat line

also Ichiro has less than 75 career homeruns in nearly 5500 at bats, but he had a grand slam tonight in his first game of the season

Ichiro has only hit more than 9 homeruns in a season twice...its a little more rare for him to hit a grand slam than other people

^^Depends on the player and their ability, the pitcher they are facing, and what pitches they actually see.

Jason Kubel had a go-ahead grand slam tonight in the bottom of the 8th to put give the Twins an 11-9 lead, and he also hit for the cycle.

Thats already three people who have hit for the cycle this year (that I am aware of): Orlando Hudson, Kinsler, Kubel. I wonder if three players have ever hit for the cycle this early in the season?
