I hate UNC as much as the next guy, but I'm not too sure I'm up with the whole you didn't go there so you don't have a basis for being a fan argument. Someone explain that to me.

Now, on the other hand... there are a lot of fans that like them simply because they win all the time. I guess that's to be expected. I wouldn't try to venture a guess as to what percentage of UNC fans fall into that category. Kinda hard to test their meddle as true fans as they always have something to be proud of. Hardly ever walked a mile in our shoes.

It's not that hard. Just look at what the Nose Dome looked like during their 8-20 season, and what Kenan Stadium looks like well most of the time, but especially during the Bunting era.

always brings me back to the season finale last year between duke and unc...we were at jax, and every one there was decked out in some shade of blue...aside from a kid i was with, there couldn't have been a single student of duke/unc, current or former, in the establishment...anyway, it ended with a huge brawl and the owner's mother getting hit with a bar stool...

my roomate is a unc fan but he's never obnoxious about it. Every time they play state i'm usually like great, we're going to lose, but he always gives us way more credit than we're due, just because he acknowledges the rivalry.

There are way fewer State fans that didn't go to State then there are UNC fans that didn't go to UNC. Usually the State fans that didn't go to State still have some connection to the school. They usually have family that went there or they are from Raleigh and have been around the campus plenty of times before, etc. A lot of UNC "fans" that didn't go to UNC have never even set foot on the campus or been through Chapel Hill and have no connection to the school whatsoever. Hell some of them haven't even seen the Chapel Hill exit on I-40.
