I bought a house in December and I am in the process of re-doing the kitchen. I've added a new stove and a new fridge, but I need new cabinet doors.
The cabinets themselves are a nice, brown solid wood. But the doors I have on them are a white, cheap ugly brand....I wanted to get some nice wood cabinet doors to replace them with.
Can anyone suggest where I can find some? 4/14/2009 12:41:01 PM |

Lowe's isn't that bad from what I remember. My parents redid their kitchen a while ago and we got cabinets that were wooden frames with glass panels...I think it was from Lowes. 4/14/2009 12:58:21 PM |

you're just refacing cabinets, which any regular supplier of cabinets should be able to help you out 4/14/2009 1:05:25 PM |

he's not looking for the full cabinet + door, just the doors.
i want to do the same thing, but was hoping there was a cheaper/easier option (like lowes) than going through an actual cabinet maker. i don't want custom made [read: more expensive] doors, just something i could go pick up off a shelf. 4/14/2009 1:19:06 PM |

Pretty much any kitchen design place can sell you replacement door fronts. 4/14/2009 1:30:09 PM |

anyone know any good kitchen design places in raleigh then? looking for the cheapest place to get some decent looking stuff. Doesn't have to be high quality wood, just has to look nice. 4/14/2009 1:45:12 PM |

do they have that? It sounds like that would be a huge shelf, cause they'd have to have every door style (or at least 10 or more) in 1/2" increments.
Custom seems like the practical solution.4/14/2009 1:49:23 PM |

i was assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that a lot of cabinets came in some sort of standard range of common sizes. does that not happen?
and no, not every style. like how lowes only carries maybe 3 different types of cabinets...yeah, same as that.

Places like Home Depot and Lowes do offer cabinet refacing. http://tinyurl.com/d734wq
However, I don't know that it would be cheaper. In Raleigh I believe the independent companies are usually cheaper than places like Home Depot and Lowes when doing a custom design. Not sure about simple things like ordering new doors and drawer fronts.
Furthermore, pretty much nobody "makes" cabinets in house anymore for normal residential construction. 30 years ago all the big kitchen design companies had an in house shop to do the builds, but now you can order a $80k kitchen out of a catalog. Basically you just need to find someone who is hooked up with a couple of manufacturers who has samples you can look at for shape/color/etc. and then place an order.
E Nigma, I have a company in mind that could probably go over sample doors with you and sell them to you if you just wanted to do it yourself. I can't think of their name right now, but I'll let you know later today. They do installation as well if you just want someone else to handle it all.

I haven't ordered cabinet doors from them, but have ordered glass inserts for doors we bought elsewhere - very pleased with the quality and service.
Another, cheaper site - http://www.ameradoor.com/?gclid=CPGfiu7l8ZkCFQKHxwode3DFTg 4/14/2009 10:04:57 PM |

you assumed correctly....most, if not all, CABNIT companies have a whole range of stock cabinets in their catalog that are relatively cheap and readily available. Then there are custom-made cabinets available to be built based on the space they're being installed....4/14/2009 11:27:15 PM |

IKEA.
They sell cabinet doors and hinges and many styles and colors at a very affordable price. They also have a free kitchen design software that has everything they sell in it so pricing a redesign is easy. 4/15/2009 11:48:21 PM |

If you're around the triangle, try Hercules Sales in Roxboro. I think they sell to individuals as well as businesses. Ask for Anthony. (He's a bigtime Pack fan.) You can order any size by sixteenths, and get any style and wood. They also do finishing in their place if you want it. Incidentally, I have no financial connection with them, I've just been ordering from them for many years and Anthony's a good guy. 4/16/2009 12:09:33 AM |
