I use to drive by the sign 2 or 3 times a month for work.

See that kid in the bottom right hand corner playing basketball? That was me. And I backhand stuffed the ball into that briefcase carrying nerd kid's face while my sister laughed at him and went to write about it in her pink diary. That's the city built around my family. Soul City. And now it's gone. And nothing you can do will bring it back.

This tendency to be caught up in the chains of conformity is destroying the souls of our nation. -MLK Jr.

This is very sad if true. I am also saddened my Soul City thread from years ago has been purged.

Quote :
"In 1972, the city received a grant of $14 million from HUD on the hope that industry would move to the planned community. Yet by 1975, the city had few homes and only one industrial building, "Soul Tech 1".

The city failed to reach its initial ambitions. Lawsuits and investigations into the use of funds by the Soul City Company, the city's developers, resulted in foreclosure in 1979. In 1980, there were 35 housing units, a clinic, a tennis court, and a pool. About 150 people were employed in the city."
