I need to get an ethernet connection from my router on the second floor down to my Dish 722 box on the first floor. This can be pretty low speed so long as the connection works, that is all I care about.

Any of you used one of these or know of a cheap one that works fairly well?

if you just need something that works, what about a wireless bridge (or wrt54g with ddwrt)?

buy.com had the zyxel ones for like $30/ea the other day

they're out of stock right now, but maybe they'll get more in.

but yeah, don't go with powerline ethernet; in general, it sucks ass. go get two WRT54Gs on ebay and stick DD-WRT on them running in bridge mode, i did that for the longest time at my old place and it never died.

^^ I had a serious brain fart about 2 minutes after I made the thread when I remembered I had a 54g v5 that I had been meaning to put micro-ddwrt on for awhile that will actually work perfectly for this.

^ Yeah, since I already have the wireless AP, it's immensely cheaper just to add a second one at the 722.

Threads like this happen at 10:50am on a Sunday after a hard night of drinking and before I've had breakfast and coffee.
