Go there. My animal science class went there for lab this semester and they custom build fishtanks to fit your specs.. they will also get you fish and come clean your tank. It will definitely be more than 300 though. 4/20/2009 10:34:12 AM |

$300 will get you a 36" long tank at Petsmart
might want to just spend the money on some paint and make a mural on the wall. 4/20/2009 10:41:00 AM |

hahahahhahaha be prepared to drop more than 300 dude.
You need to factor in the tank, lighting, heat, and and all chemicals (for water quality, fish, and plants), the actual fish, food, plants, cleaning equipment, substrate, filters, testing equipment . . . 4/20/2009 10:56:56 AM |

I worked with fish a few years ago and we had a big round tank that held roughly 300 gallons (which is prob the size you're thinking) -- my boss told me it was worth well over $1,000... so ummm dream big 4/20/2009 12:39:58 PM |

i found a 6' long tank that held 100 gallons of water on ebay once and seriously considered getting it, but when you do the math
1 gallon of water = ~8 pounds
800 pound fishtank? no thanks.

I enjoyed mine while I had it, but ^^ is right. Not so much about the moneypit thing, but it is a lot of work to keep it looking nice.

My favorite day as a former owner of a fishtank was when some wolfwebber came and took it away.
and by "former owner" I mean that there was one in our house because my wife wanted it, and my only condition in letting her get it was that I would never be asked to do any maintenance on it.
So a year later she decided we didn't need a fish tank any longer. 4/20/2009 2:08:43 PM |

Just to let you know, growing life plants in an aquarium is a lot of work. It makes your water look all green and nasty. i don't recommend it.
If you are going to get a tank that size, I recommend doing saltwater and building a kickass coral reef
either way, there is no way you will find a tank that size for $300. $3000 would even be a stretch
And that shit that Takimoto posted is off the fucking chain

Queen, French, Passer (King) ~10 Heniochus ~10 YT's ~4 or 5 of the red squirrels 3 XLG Doctorfish and 2 XLG Atlantic Blue Tangs ~10 Lookdowns ~6 Foxfaces a couple Niger Triggers I think lots of damsels and a few tomato clowns here and there prolly 20 more Im missing, but thats what I remember off the top of my head.
Gonna stock it a little more prolly, this was all just the first batch, although theres not as much room as you would think since the center overflow stack is so huge.4/20/2009 6:33:27 PM |
