I went to ship an iphone today and the woman behind the counter at the post office insisted that I am supposed to remove the battery before hand. Does anyone have experience with this? There do not seem to be many results online as far as removing the battery to ship USPS. Not to mention it is a pain to take the battery out. It is water damaged and does not turn on.

Just tell her iPhones don't have batteries. She will understand.

UPS and fedex ftw

UPS, while screwing up once in a while, still trumps Fedex and USPS on the least amount of fuckups.

hm, i've never had fedex fuck up anything of mine

UPS is cheaper, though... and i like their shipping interface/tracking interface much better, as well

the USPS has lost more packages/letters of mine than i care to mention.

Right now UPS wins hands down. FedEx was okay, but they've gone seriously downhill the last couple years. Just go to a decent UPS store (the one across from Cary Crossroads is the best I've ever found) and they'll do the rest.

i ship hundreds of items a week....

if i answered the dumb bitch at the counter every time they asked what was in the box...id probably have wasted alot of time at the Post office.

they normally ask...is anything fragile/hazardous in there...

you can answer NO.

thats the extent of questioning you should get...

UPS and FEDEX both suck for easy/fast reliable sending.

cost way too much and because they are private..they can do what they want with your package..

not usps..

lolwut

UPS and FedEx are WAY more reliable than the USPS. they've NEVER lost ANY package i've sent through them. i can't say the same for the USPS.

as far as fast - they both have online tracking systems that make USPS's horrible excuse for a tracking system look like the bastard stepchild of chewbacca and Mary J. Blige.

UPS, especially, has consistently delivered faster than USPS for me. there's a reason a large majority of companies ship using UPS/FedEx.

priority mail cannot be beat for quick/cheap/somewhat reliable shipping of small items in my experience.

i used to ship all kinds of crap when I was a powerseller on ebay, and i usually shipped the smaller stuff through USPS and I dropped off at Avent Ferry with no issue. used to be able to ring the bell at the back door and drop off my shipments like that.

the one time i dropped off at hillsborough st they made me cut open each package so they could see what was inside..and they wouldn't let me ship one of them on a technicality. never went back.
