i'm split on it, some of their stuff looks good but other stuff is pretty bad and the material quality is pretty low rate 2nd-world

I've never been to an Ikea. I don't have anything against it, I've just never needed furniture that I couldn't get from family hand-me-downs or from friends or Craigslist. I'm sure once I get a house of my own, I'll someday have a desire for more coordinated furnishings, but for now, furniture stores will remain a mystery to me.

they have a few things in there but most stuff there isn't worth the money even if it is cheap. I find it to be better as a store for accessories rather than full out furnishings.

I bought an Ikea bed, and it seems pretty solid... looks good too

and it wasn't expensive at all

I've never been to one of their stores, though, so I can't weigh in on any of their other stuff

wife and i were wandering about a furniture store, getting ideas for a new couch. we round a corner and there were like 13 salesmen waiting to ambush us. some were sitting on a couch, a few posted by the lamp, others by the armchair. their attention darted to us as we stopped in our tracks, and that was our mistake, not to quicken our pace

it was like walking into a pit of vipers

Hahaha...

My experience with furniture stores is somewhat limited. I got my leather couch from a place off of cary parkway that was a small business type shop. The guy was really nice and just pointed out everything he had that was roughly in my price range/what I was looking for and then cut me a decent deal when I bought my couch. His prices were already better than most stores in the area, and the couch is going on 2 years old without any issues (if it was a cheap POS couch it would've definitely had something go wrong).

My only other experience is going into ikea and spending $88 for 2 table lamps, 2 floor lamps, and 2 parsons tables. I was in and out in 30 minutes because I wanted to use the 30 minute parking out front. This was the one near DC, and I have to say I have probably not been in many stores nicer than an Ikea.
