Essentially, my girlfriend went to animal control to get a dog. She found this 4 year old dog Max, and she fell in love with him. Unfortunately, her parents found out and are making her give him away.
She had started taking him to Petsmart classes, but now that she has to put him up for adoption, she has stopped. You can email her from the CL ad and get more information about him and the classes.
I believe this includes a leash, some food, and a couple of dog bowls.
Pics aren't in the ad yet, but I'm about to put some in my profile.

People don't pay for mixed breed 4 yr old dogs, FYI.
Just give him away and find him a nice home please. 4/23/2009 10:27:58 AM |

Just tell her to put "There is a rehoming fee for the adoption of this dog"
That will keep black some people away and only serious people will call/email. 4/23/2009 2:09:39 PM |

She doesn't care about the money. It's only there to discourage people from getting him who A.) because he's a free dog so why not? B.) to use in dog fights because he literally cost nothing and plus he's a big pit bull and CL is EATEN UP with people lookin for dogs to fight, especially pits and C.) to discourage someone not willing to invest in him or having th monetary means to do so from adopting him. 4/23/2009 5:06:20 PM |

is she paying for everything involving the dog? if yes, why do her parents care if she keeps him? she might want to say 'adoption fee negotiable to the right home' or something like that. 4/23/2009 11:46:34 PM |

I love dogs, but this sounds like a hot ass mess.
Could she not have adopted a lab or something? 4/24/2009 12:09:54 AM |

You're going to have to describe the behavioral problems if you expect anyone to take the dog. We've got a pit bull mix. She was a nightmare for the first few months (fighting with the other dog and deliberately crapping all over the house because she knew it pissed us off) but she calmed down after a while. Now she's the sweetest dog ever. 4/24/2009 12:27:56 AM |

^^^Currently, her dad pays her bills. ^^She doesn't like labs for some reason.
As far as behavioral problems go, the dog likes to chew on things, but not nearly as much as before. It's down from always having something in his mouth (not a bone/chew toy) to the very occasional chewing of her blanket or another random item. Also, he is dog aggressive most of the time. He acts attention starved despite the fact that she spends more time with him than me.
That's all I can think of. If you email her through the CL ad and ask her, she may be able to inform you better.
He has potential to be a really good dog. It really does just take a little time with training. 4/24/2009 1:01:11 AM |

That doesn't sound so bad. Ours chewed on everything too. The solution was basically to lock the dog in a crate with a chew toy whenever she started chewing on something and leave her there for an hour or two. Eventually she figured out if she didn't tear up the house she wouldn't get locked in the crate.
Shame she has to get rid of him though. If I didn't spend so much time away from home I'd take him. 4/24/2009 1:12:36 AM |
