it's only once a month now. used to be every friday morning. it's at the warehouse on the west side of that tunnel that goes under the beltline.i got the green desk in my gallery there for $3.[Edited on April 23, 2009 at 1:50 PM. Reason : it's different than that^. the one i'm talking about is NCSU stuff only.]

Second Friday of the month. Basically, be there at 8AM or don't bother. Stuff goes really fast.I picked up a pretty nice steel bookcase for $10 there a while back. There's a lot of old computer parts and whatnot, and old furniture, and then some really random stuff. I bought a wooden table for $1. Like 8'X4'. It was decorated just about all over with gum and people had scrathed their names and whatnot into it, but hey, $1.

Go buy a drug dealer's car

I bought a stoplight at the state surplus a few years ago for $5
4/23/2009 2:00:53 PM
^^yeah, it took 4 guys to get it in my apartment. it's fireproof i think. it's made by "General Fireproofing" anyway

i'm assuming the used projectors and good stuff goes pretty quick. Anyone ever get a HDTV from one of these places?
4/23/2009 2:50:53 PM
there's one day when you can go look over the stuff, but not buy anything. used to be every thursday, but idk when it is now that they've moved to once a month.

cardboard sign says "yard sale"real estate sign says "sold"

there's a zero percent chance that you're going to get a working projector or an HDTV from the NCSU surplus sale. especially right now, with the budget issues around the state. you'll have to be realistic with your expectations... you'll see a lot of old computers and furniture, and other random stuff.
4/23/2009 4:26:27 PM
Yeah. I'd lower your expectations of electronics a handful of notches.
4/23/2009 4:36:45 PM
wtf why did they make it once a month now?
4/23/2009 8:27:57 PM
4/23/2009 8:29:04 PM
^^ um, see, there's this recession thing going on, and this state budget freeze? that translates into people not throwing things away. why have a weekly sale when you have nothing to offer?[Edited on April 23, 2009 at 8:30 PM. Reason : goddammit]
4/23/2009 8:29:54 PM
i don't have my hopes up. The most i would want would be a computer to dick around on the internet
4/23/2009 8:34:53 PM
then you're good.
4/23/2009 8:35:48 PM
yeah thats 10 dolla sucky sucky

Personally I was always a fan of the drug dealer confiscation auctions down the road on Hillsborough.
4/23/2009 9:08:06 PM
wow some people won bids for 39 sets of dorm furniture and only paid $2

I hear the indians converge on this like a free curry bar
4/24/2009 12:01:32 AM
I just came up with this amazing plan to camouflage shipping containers as Surplus Outlets that smell like curry, after luring in the dot heads with fantastic bargains you close the thing, toss in some food that smells like defecation, and send that fucking thing back to sacred cow land

^^ having been there many times to the ncsu one (never the state one) i dont think ive ever seen one there.
