was driving a friend home from a bar tonight, we were discussing these 3 girls he is talking to and which one he should date/fuck/ditch etc., who would be a better fuck, etc. happen to look down and see that I had been having a 4:44 minute conversation with our main line at work...so I called back to see if an answering machine picks up if you dont transfer to someone and it does, upon which I said "FUCK!"so now our receptionist has a 4 minute voice mail from me talking about fucking people, and a message with me saying "FUCK!"so, should I send an email out tonight saying "hey everyone, lost my cell phone last night blah blah blah"or just ignore things and see what happens?oh, and let me add, most of the people at our company are hardcore Christians[Edited on April 23, 2009 at 11:40 PM. 4/23/2009 11:40:47 PM
that sucks, manjust pretend it never happened, and maybe nothing will come of it
4/23/2009 11:45:47 PM
Beat the receptionist to work, explain the situation and tell her you acciddentally called the office while having a private conversation in the car. If she's the understanding type, she will probably delete it without listening to it.

^^ thats what I am leaning towards... or maybe hide my cell phone in my pocket and if anyone says anything mention damn touch screen speed dial[Edited on April 23, 2009 at 11:49 PM. Reason : d]

no way... she looks like Mr. Burns
4/23/2009 11:56:02 PM
does the receptionist have called ID? if not it could be anyone on the planet who called.
4/23/2009 11:56:03 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHASUCKS FORYOU
4/23/2009 11:56:36 PM

4/23/2009 11:56:42 PM
Is the receptionist hot or not?
4/23/2009 11:57:04 PM
yeah, you gotta beat her to work.
4/23/2009 11:57:09 PM
Why not deal with this situation like a man and NOT make a thread, at least put this tripe on FML where it belongs (boring ass story, no one cares)
4/23/2009 11:57:44 PM
I care and am interested in how it all turns out.
4/23/2009 11:58:36 PM
You're a pretty shitty member of this forum, Solinari. A pretty big fuckin tool.
4/24/2009 12:00:13 AM
trolling never gets old for some people...yes, does have caller ID.I think I am going to do this:not say a word, go into work, with my cell hidden in my bag.if no one says anything by the afternoon, then I am in the clear. If someone does happen to say something say that I had left my phone at a friends house the night before
4/24/2009 12:05:23 AM
I would advise against that...it will likely be immediately identified as a bald-faced lieif anyone says anything, just man up and weather the storm...but try to laugh it off
4/24/2009 12:09:34 AM
It's unbelievable that you're talking yourself through this Little Rascals type scenario on a message board as a grown ass man. Where are you employed, chik-fil-a?
4/24/2009 12:10:45 AM
two points:1) they will recognize your voice. you are screwed2) it is laughable to think that you are in the clear by the afternoon. This kind of thing can take WEEKS to fully come to fruition. Usually they will go through HR and make sure all their ducks are in order before confronting someone about something3) This is a bonus point - you are in serious trouble. If they recognize your voice (which they probably will) then this could easily fall under sexual harrassment of the worst kind. I mean, we're talking about you calling up your own receptionist and leaving her a vulgar sexually explicit message. And then repeat dialing and leaving her a second message with foul and abusive language.I'd start looking for another job.
4/24/2009 12:11:23 AM

post an ad on craigslist for a free leather couch must call tonight to arrange pickup.there will be so many messages/missed calls in there tomorrow your message gets lost in the shuffle
4/24/2009 12:15:55 AM
here's my advice. take it at your own risk. If you think the receptionist is easy-going, then get to work at 5am and wait for her to come in. Explain the situation and make sure she deletes it before listening to it.if you have any doubt as to whether or not she will be ok with this, then I'd call your manager at 6:30am and explain the situation to him and ask him to call the receptionist's manager so that her manager will order her to delete the message without listening to it.I have no idea whether or not either of those options would work IRL, so I disclaim any responsibility for how it all turns out. The third option is to play it cool. Basically, this situation boils down to this single point: the receptionist holds your job in her hands.
4/24/2009 12:17:33 AM
I am not worried about getting fired, just about being the alcoholic heathen at work (which I am). Its a cool company, very successful, but more of a familiy environment, not a corporate one. The caller ID is number only, not name, so I figure play it cool, take my name off of my voice mail, and trust that she will probably just delete it and not try to search for the number[Edited on April 24, 2009 at 12:20 AM. On a serious note Jaybee, I wouldn't worry about it, and definitely don't follow Solinari's advice. He's like the worst drama queen/shitty advice giver/square/douche bag on this message board.Talk to the receptionist if you have time and mention what happened, you being chill about it is the most likely way to have her not view it as some massive ordeal (like Solinari is pretending it is because he loves men)
4/24/2009 12:20:17 AM
I would probably do the same thing. Good luck.Send her a christmas card this dec. if u still have a job
4/24/2009 12:20:21 AM
shit sounds like a fucking Seinfeld episode

4/24/2009 12:30:41 AM
honestly I would just suspend my phone for 48 hours
4/24/2009 12:31:43 AM
depending on the individuals involved, it can be hard to predict how they will react to hearing the message & any requests not to listen to it. I honestly think this is your best option:
4/24/2009 12:32:31 AM
^ that's....... actually not a bad idea.
4/24/2009 12:33:42 AM
well if they ever did find out that you posted that message on craigslist, then you could DEFINITELY kiss your ass goodbye. that would definitely be above and beyond the call of duty for someone who wishes to get fired on the spot.
4/24/2009 12:34:15 AM
^^ hmmmm.... let me think that over^ haha, I dont think they would investigate too much[Edited on April 24, 2009 at 12:35 AM. Reason : d]

I think pulling a craigslist prank is a baadd idea. Don't forget that no matter how many messages get left on the machine, they won't hear any of them until AFTER they've heard your message and quite possibly recognized your voice. Then a 5 hr. gap in time before they're slammed with couch messages.... Unless you're working with total morons, I don't think it would be too hard for them to put two and two together. Then its like you're begging to get fired.1) you leave a sexually explicit message for your receptionist2) you call back and leave an abusive message3) you post her number on craigslist to spam her answering machine with prank calls4) your ass gets walked out the door
4/24/2009 12:39:49 AM
have voicemail taken off your phone and leave it on silent all day tomorrow? do *72 in the morning an forward your number to a radio station, bar, or club?i dont know if you can still forward yoru number to 1-800-weare18 anymore but that used to be awesome
4/24/2009 12:43:43 AM
Just say you were driving your intoxicated brother home and he starting spouting personal, family drama. Tell her you'd appreciate her deleting the message and she will.
4/24/2009 1:10:18 AM
temporary omniscience has ended
4/24/2009 1:45:40 AM
take the best of both worlds.1) you already left a sexually explicit message2) we know that the craigslist/couch idea is pretty viable3) take it a step further and post a "Horny 19 year old dd free girl, etc. etc." and have a bunch of craigslist pervs leave a ton of messages, yours gets lost in the mix[Edited on April 24, 2009 at 2:31 AM.
