I don't know if the members of the bands are douchebags, but there is certainly a douchey cult of personality, for lack of a better term, surrounding both of them...or more specifically, surrounding both Jim Morrison and Radiohead.

...but the Doors are a better band, and Radiohead's fans are also significantly more douchey.

Actually, I know music pretty damned well. I've played 4 different instruments pretty well at one point or another (the only two that I'm still good at are guitar and saxophone)...but yeah, I have 20-something years of experience with music, with 8-10 of that being formal instruction.

I also like a huge variety of different music. Both the Doors and Jimmy Buffett are included in that, while Radiohead, for the most part, is not. Whatever--I don't like them...but I'm not at all a Top 40/Nickelback sort of guy or anything...I just don't like Radiohead.

P.S. This is why people think Radiohead has a bunch of douchey fans.

This is kind of silly. I would fully expect Radiohead to be played on classic rock stations in 30 years, if there is actually such thing as radio anymore.

You also seem to be implying that Radiohead isn't mainstream, which is also interesting. I would love to know where the line between mainstream and not is, since Radiohead has released 7 albums: 1 went double platinum, 3 went platinum, and 3 went gold. In Rainbows would already be platinum if digital sales were included.

i'm not a huge fan of either but i don't hate either of them all that much.

the only reason i post shit in here to get people riled up is that radiohead seems to be one of those bands that brings out people saying shit like this:

"do you like radiohead?"
"nah.. i never really cared to get into 'em. don't really feel like it's my thing."
"you just don't 'get it.'"

i would never tell anyone but my 14 year old sister that they didn't 'get' something. i find it terribly condescending, especially if you know me (not that i'm some guru). I usually question the motives of the people who say this, cause at a point i no longer feel like its about them trying to get me to listen to a potentially great band.

and joel, i know good and damn well that i can't hate on bands being assholes when thats the thing that draws me to half the bands i like anyway.
