Old thread is dead. Saw this on Friday and thought it was great. Good documentary style movie covering a lot of different animals, but specifically a Polar Bear family, Elephant family and Whale family.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/earth/

Definitely recommend seeing it. Also there is an "Oceans" movie coming out by BBC/Disney next year on Earth Day.

yeah, looks cool, and i hope it helps get people interested in science and conservation and stuff, but it seems strange to me to make a movie out of what is basically shown all day on Discovery HD, Nat Geo, TLC, etc

that's true.

I went last night. It was okay I guess even if you've seen Planet Earth. Some awesome shots and James Earl Jones narrating was great.

That will probably be the footage from Blue Planet.

aaronian, I'm assuming you've seen Planet Earth from your comment. Was it worth the $8 to see Earth considering you've already seen the footage?

Since Blue Planet is older and perhaps not as widely known as Planet Earth, Ocean may actually be "new" for a lot more people. If you've not seen Blue Planet and liked Planet Earth, definitely check it out. It comes on a good bit as well and you can rent them from netflix and blockbuster online.

I've seen Planet Earth, Blue Planet (IMAX) and I think about every other nature show on Discovery, NGC, etc.

I still enjoyed watching this movie and don't think you can beat watching it on a big screen rather than your tv.
