Old thread is dead. Saw this on Friday and thought it was great. Good documentary style movie covering a lot of different animals, but specifically a Polar Bear family, Elephant family and Whale family.

Definitely recommend seeing it. Also there is an "Oceans" movie coming out by BBC/Disney next year on Earth Day. 4/26/2009 8:39:16 PM |

yeah, looks cool, and i hope it helps get people interested in science and conservation and stuff, but it seems strange to me to make a movie out of what is basically shown all day on Discovery HD, Nat Geo, TLC, etc 4/26/2009 8:42:17 PM |

I went last night. It was okay I guess even if you've seen Planet Earth. Some awesome shots and James Earl Jones narrating was great. 4/26/2009 11:34:49 PM |

That will probably be the footage from Blue Planet.
aaronian, I'm assuming you've seen Planet Earth from your comment. Was it worth the $8 to see Earth considering you've already seen the footage?
Since Blue Planet is older and perhaps not as widely known as Planet Earth, Ocean may actually be "new" for a lot more people. If you've not seen Blue Planet and liked Planet Earth, definitely check it out. It comes on a good bit as well and you can rent them from netflix and blockbuster online.4/27/2009 3:10:04 PM |

I've seen Planet Earth, Blue Planet (IMAX) and I think about every other nature show on Discovery, NGC, etc.
I still enjoyed watching this movie and don't think you can beat watching it on a big screen rather than your tv. 4/28/2009 11:13:45 AM |
