First off, 98% of the people in NYC are sheep. Stupid and irrational.

Second, it would have been prudent to announce it to the media outlets. However if you're the media it's prudent to ignore that announcement because ignoring it makes better news.

Third, it had a fighter escort - don't they think that multi-hundred-million dollar plane would do something about it if it was a real threat?

Lastly, I would have ridden the train all the way to NYC to see the 30 seconds of freaked out people.

According to the news report, it was classified. So making an announcement, other than letting NYPD know what was going down, would not have been an option. Either way, that dude that OK'd this mission was a fucking idiot for allowing it.
