so like a jackass, i bumped my lcd with an open sharpie. Just to get it out of the way: i was using a sharpie, the dog was barking and only barks when people are outside. So I leaned over the screen to look out the window to see who was here and bumped it with the tip somehow. I thought I hit the top of the monitor, which is black anyway, and didn't notice anything so I went about my business.

It's been a few days now, and this morning I noticed it on the screen. It's fairly small (fits inside the mouse pointer) but now that I know it's there, I see it all the time.

Anything i can use to get it off that won't mess up the screen?

rubbing alcohol would work. You could even dilute it if you wanted to with water.

^I thought about rubbing alcohol, which would work, but google recommended against it.

Water/isopropyl alcohol mix is used to clean glossy LCD screens. I see no reason why you couldnt try this.

yeah it'll be fine. i was serious about the coffee thing though-we used it to get sharpie off of a dry erase board one time when nothing else would work.

The coffee is a mild abrasive... fine for a white board, but not an LCD screen.

^^ save that bullshit for chit chat man. Although, it does exemplify why I asked here even after googling and finding the yahoo answer that BIGcementpon posted.

Thanks for the help. I usually just use water and a microfiber cloth to clean them. But that wasn't getting the marker off. I was at target and saw they had some lcd wipes, so i bought some. It pretty much came right off with the wipe.

Magic Eraser is most definitely abrasive, would not recommend.

I've used sopropyl alcohol on a variety of LCDs without issues. If you have to resort to acetone, wipe it off with a damp (water) towel as soon as you get rid of the ink, as I hear there's a chance it'll dissolve the plastic.

Acetone marred the plastic on my original Nintendo back in the days.
