I'm going to have to turn down the job offer and I need a job since mine is temporary and ending in feb

Oh well, fingers crossed I get a better job offer so I can tell myself there is a reason I turned it down.

The department head offering is a former professor of mine with a history of unprofessional behaviors. I know he hasn't changed and I am concerned that if it comes to it, and i have to stand up to him, I am afraid he would be vindictive and sink my career. At the very least he will bring me to the edge of insanity.

and I have a feeling my husband would become resentful that I would take a job that would put me in that position.

Oh man! Everyone is gone now. No more board game fun with the kids. This weekend my family got together. I taught my 8 year old cousins Backgammon, Chinese Checkers, and Checkers. Plus we played Jenga and The Game of Life once too. I hadn't played that in years. It's still fun.

came in to work, even though the university is closed. I needed to check to make sure nothing happened and bugs didn't die.

drive was totally fine, except for there being a few dangerous ninnies out there today (should i go? oh gosh I don't think I should go (halfway in the road) until I got to the parking lot, which is an ice rink.

I want to have my best friends bachelor party in Vegas, but my other friend who is also a groomsman and is notoriously cheap wants to have it within driving distance because Vegas would be too expensive

Oh but its ok for him to go to chicago for a week like he did a month ago with his brother.

^well he might have blown hisbudget on that trip (it is his brother so you can't blame him for prioritization) and maybe he doesn't feel comfortable with that

you can have a really fun time not going to vegas , my favorite bachelorette parties have been camping/hiking/drinking in the woods

if you are really set on vegas be up front with the guy and ask to maybe share a room or something to maybe encourage his cheap side. Although he might be living paycheck to paycheck, so it really might be out of reach for him.

^^ going to vegas for a friend's bachelor party at the end of january and there were a few people that couldn't afford flights / rooms so a few people that could afford it pitched in extra to cover their flights / rooms (and i'm sure a few rounds will be picked up as well) because it wouldn't be the same without everyone

based on timing drastically changes flights cost out there and rooms are incredibly cheap for the most part

It would be in September most likely which is why I find it annoying that he wont budget accordingly to do this for one of our best friends. The problem is all the shit within driving distance is stuff that has been done before so its kinda lame.

I get annoyed with this dude though because hes been a longtime friend but hes gotten really cheap the past few years and always pulls this shit. It bothers me because he will spend a bunch of money on something one day and then the next be like "oh i cant spend money on that" when its convenient for him. he just uses it as a b.s. excuse it seems like to do/not do what he wants

^have you told him why vegas and why you feel it's important to go somewhere you haven't been?

Maybe tell him he has time to save up and that you could even throw in some (if you feel that is approriate) and that you really want to do something memorable and you would really appreciate his support because it isn't the same without him.

It really comes down to who is bestman. If you are you can just make the decision and tell him you really want him there and you will help make it happen. That kind of puts the ball in his court. I could see why that would be hard on paycheck-to-paycheck living, but I am getting the impression this isn't really his case?!?! but he HAS time and he might just be making excuses. If you give him that much time he should really be able to make it work especially if he has other groomsmen support

be prepared to loan her some money, and don't call the guy a POS before you know the whole story. Your friend could be a cheating slut.

um well in this case he kinda is. He started using cocaine and he lined up the kids and apologized for making them believe he would always be there. so I mean I guess that was nice of him to apologize to the kids

and I know her well enough to know she was not cheating (nice projection there banjo )

but sadly I will never have money to loan anyone

^Sounds like mental/emotional support is the primary thing you can actually do right now. It's probably the most important thing you can do, too.

Besides just "being there" for her, specifically you might have to do some gentle nudging towards various support services in her area if you think she could benefit from them.

And you gotta have your non-judgmental ear ready for whenever she lets him back in her life.

^^ seems llike a match made in heaven /sarcasm, I said it to myself when I watched it. She was slapping the hell out of him a few times, what did she expect? (he still shouldn't have hit back) She is assaulting him multiple times, so legally she doesn't really have any claim assault. She is clearly not capable of causing too much damage to him, but for real, if he is that much of a dick you probably should just walk away. Saddest thing about it is that they seemed to have left together, this is probably a regular thing for them

Nobody has posted any thoughts in a week soooo...

I seem to be burning a hole in my stomach again, probably exacerbated by the coffee/alcohol/junk food/no sleep extravaganza last week (traveling for work).

ew. I just found a news article from my hometown about a guy I went to HS with. After he graduated he returned to our small town to be a middle school coach and PE teacher. Now they just found a lot of child porn in his computer and what had kicked off the whole investigation was the inappropriate text messaging he was sending a kid. He was really popular in HS and his family is well known, people have been defending him since it first came out, but I don't know what they have to say about the child porn

and no, I did not go to school with geniusboy

^ did you get the job?

*****************************

was gonna go visit my wife and daughter during spring break (bought the ticket 10 days ago), but now i won't after the jerk-in-chief's cruel and puerile actions

only if the indonesians had given me the visa 10 days earlier than they did (got it dec 30), i would have gone during the christmas break as i was planning to, and would have returned before the fragile egotistical buffoon started flinging shit.

I did get the job offer!!! I am still not sure I will officially have it until I start in 1.5 weeks because they are doing a credit check whomp whomp

I know that some things on your credit might be " telling of your character" as they put it, but damn yo... I can't do right by my credit until I get a job that pays me something over poverty level... so I'm still over here biting my nails.

^I'm sorry about that that is really rough

inorite... how do you get experience? by getting a job. how do you get a job? by getting experience. same vicious circle with building credit!

thanks. i am not from one of the seven countries, but i don't want to take the risk of not being allowed back in even though all my papers and my visa/work is valid and legal. current advice being given is for anybody from any muslim majority country not to leave even if they have a green card, let alone any kind of visa. plus, if the buffoon decides to add more countries to the list, mine will be next guaranteed.

one day you are seen as a regular person, whether a student/employee/resident, next day you are seen as a terrorist just because of your citizenship and barred from returning back to your life.

this is unreal.

If you said "my job at the government yatta yatta abortions" I would have been triggered.

I would have no problem with a private employer paying you to get abortions and protest (That just sounds like you work for George Soros)

Why can't SJWs understand... if someone is against the government redistributing wealth... that doesn't mean they hate the beneficiaries of the wealth redistribution.
