actually

roughly 10% of the population is unemployed

and something like less than 5% of college educated people are unemployed.

sure it sucks, but it could be worse

it just sucks to have to "take what you can get" since graduating itself felt like it took forever

Cool, I'm safe.

Yeah, I'm graduating with nothing lined up. I don't know where I'll be living at the end of May, either.

graduation does not guarantee employment. college is fucking easy compared to the real world. just be glad that you are less than retarded and can get an education. imagine being a fucking laid off auto worker in bumfuck indiana with two kids and a 10th grade education.

imagine having a house payment and getting laid off, fuck that shit

owning something is not what it is cracked up to be -

try being 40K upside down on a house and renting looks like a fucking great option right now.

yeah, owning can be nice, but there are a lot of bad things associated with it to... renting allows a lot of freedom, especially when just out of college

my advice would be just dont be picky

dont think that just because you have a college degree you are qualified.

at my current job, a lady was telling me a story the other day where she applied for a job in a medical office and 256 others had applied for the same job.

unless you are collecting unemployment, some job > no job

just work on getting inside the head of whoever your interviewer might be and make yourself as marketable as possible. try to have a good answer for every question you might get asked in advance. focus on key points and do not ramble on. learn "STAR" interview process and any others that get thrown at you.

i spent october & november looking for a job hard core, ended up taking one for way less money than i wanted part time, worked that one for a month and in the mean time landed one where i am happy with the money and its full time. left the part time on on very good terms, they asked me to stay and offered FT to get me to stay. i feel like i could go back if i needed to.

the job is not what i want to do forever by any means but its paying the bills right now and i feel very fortunate to have it.

make yourself sound as passionate as possible about what you are going to be doing

I somewhat agree. Not so much memorizing answers as just be ready to think on the fly. Most of the questions I have asked people I have interviewed hasnt so much been to see what they told me but just that they can interact with people, think on the fly, and hold a good conversation and not be like "uh uh uhhhhh uhhh"

I've got a potential lead that seems like they basically are going to hire me, but I still have to have one more interview with them. So I technically still have no job.

But I'm actually a little scared that I won't graduate. I haven't done all that well in my classes this semester.

Lucky for you there are a good number of medical jobs around here compared to other jobs.

What sort of assistant job?

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/hea/

The number of listings there is absolutely amazing compared to other fields.
