So during the storm today a funnel cloud was spotted pretty much over my neighborhood in Cary....it was briefly mentioned on the news when I was watching it in Fountain. So I call my pops to see what the deal is and he said that they heard the news and that it didn't look to bad there now. But they had left our living room and turned off the TV and such, and also because our living room has several large windows.

Fast forward an hour or so, and I receive a call from my dad. He explains that soon after I called my family (dad, stepmom, and 20 month old bro) moved upstairs for some reason, and all of a sudden our house shook violently, and they heard a loud crash. My dad initially thought lightening had directly struck our house, but when my stepmom walked downstairs she didn't see much except a lot of rubble and smoke, thinking there was a fire she yelled to my dad to get my brother and get out.

They go outside, and see a car crashed in my living room. A 16/17 year old kid had been flying down the street (neighborhood road, speed limit 25, kid was driving an estimated 40-45 mph) and there's a slight curve before my house that he missed. He crashes through these bushes in the front yard, bounces off a pine tree, and piles into my living room).

Now that's pretty crazy within itself. But what's also insane is that usually during the time in which the guy crashed in our house (7:30), my entire family is in the living room. With my stepmom laying on our couch which sits against the wall facing our front yard, and my little bro playing on the floor next to the couch, and my dad sitting in a chair watching TV, with my baby brother everything is very scheduled. Our couch was thrown across the living room. It was hit pretty much directly by the car. Had my family been in the living room I hate to think of what could've happened.

And a little tidbit to the story, the kid blew a .14.

yea, i asked my dad about that, and they had briefly gone upstairs for something minute, i forgot what it was.

They weren't all "Ooh tornado lets go upstairs"

My dad works for the fire department, has taken classes about disaster management, so he's not an idiot about those things

^haha yea i said tend to say "pretty" a lot

well they taught him that he could go upstairs if it was a funnel cloud, but he should stay downstairs if there's a tornado.

Glad your family is alright.

Sounds like the dipshit that drove into your house is not going to be driving (or be a free man) for a looooong while.

thanks for all of the well wishes.

after i found out that my family was alright I became very angry. My dad didn't get his name, but chance are he goes to my high school, and since I just graduated two years ago there's a chance I may know him.

I don't wanna go all "SO TUFF", but had I been there and found out he was drunk, knowing myself there's a good chance I would've snapped, but I probably wouldn't have done anything if the cops were there.

It's scary to think about what could have so easily happened had my family been in the room, but thankfully they weren't.

So at the end of the day I guess I can't be mad, I just have to be thankful my family is safe.

Though I really want to find out who that kid is

I've bounced around the Raleigh area most of my life

Born in Fayette-Nam (go there for most holidays)

But have lived in Garner/Cary/Raleigh for the past 14 years.

It's okay. Not great, not horrible. the place has definitely grown. It's been sweet though going to Canes games a lot over the years, and I went to some football games at CF before it blew up, and saw Torry Holt play, etc.

But it can be boring a lot, holy shit. That's my main complaint, there's not much to do.

i read the first few sentences, started to get antsy, then skipped to the last sentence real quick to look for Yo Holmes! didn't find it...went back and read the whole thing.

that's unreal. i'm so glad everyone is OK.

i'm wondering if your family lives off of Seabrook on the Cary Pkwy side? because rotation was spotted above US1 and Cary Pkwy and i saw it briefly from my front porch since i live in that neighborhood!

Next time you have a question, you should probably re-read everything to see if you can find the answer so you don't get heckled

Yeah but, if it wasn't for the storm, that kid probably would not have been rushing home and hit your house. So you should blame the whole incident on the storm.

I'm on the opposite side of Cary Pkwy from Seabrook, but right near there

I hope you're trolling....

As far as i know he was...he was cuffed and taken away in a cop car. I'm home now, but still haven't talked to my dad in person to get all of the details, a family friend drove me home. He said that when the cops were talking to my dad they said "Do you want us to take your wife and baby somewhere so they can relax?"to which he responded "No, because if they leave I might go over there and kick that kid's ass" I lol'd.

So as I'm typing this my Dad gets home and I find out that I know the kid....he actually graduated a year behind me, but still has a provisional license or whatever. Fuck
