So during the storm today a funnel cloud was spotted pretty much over my neighborhood in Cary....it was briefly mentioned on the news when I was watching it in Fountain. So I call my pops to see what the deal is and he said that they heard the news and that it didn't look to bad there now. But they had left our living room and turned off the TV and such, and also because our living room has several large windows.Fast forward an hour or so, and I receive a call from my dad. He explains that soon after I called my family (dad, stepmom, and 20 month old bro) moved upstairs for some reason, and all of a sudden our house shook violently, and they heard a loud crash. My dad initially thought lightening had directly struck our house, but when my stepmom walked downstairs she didn't see much except a lot of rubble and smoke, thinking there was a fire she yelled to my dad to get my brother and get out. They go outside, and see a car crashed in my living room. A 16/17 year old kid had been flying down the street (neighborhood road, speed limit 25, kid was driving an estimated 40-45 mph) and there's a slight curve before my house that he missed. He crashes through these bushes in the front yard, bounces off a pine tree, and piles into my living room). Now that's pretty crazy within itself. But what's also insane is that usually during the time in which the guy crashed in our house (7:30), my entire family is in the living room. With my stepmom laying on our couch which sits against the wall facing our front yard, and my little bro playing on the floor next to the couch, and my dad sitting in a chair watching TV, with my baby brother everything is very scheduled. Our couch was thrown across the living room. It was hit pretty much directly by the car. Had my family been in the living room I hate to think of what could've happened. And a little tidbit to the story, the kid blew a .14.

Not to self: Go upstairs during tornado.
5/6/2009 1:22:19 AM
so when there is a storm, the proper procedure is to move upstairs?
5/6/2009 1:22:52 AM

5/6/2009 1:22:57 AM

5/6/2009 1:24:39 AM
wow man...that's pretty a lot of thingsglad your family got out of it without a scratch
yea, i asked my dad about that, and they had briefly gone upstairs for something minute, i forgot what it was. They weren't all "Ooh tornado lets go upstairs"My dad works for the fire department, has taken classes about disaster management, so he's not an idiot about those things^haha yea i said tend to say "pretty" a lot[Edited on May 6, 2009 at 1:25 AM. Reason : ......]
5/6/2009 1:24:55 AM
...and the first thing they taught him was to make sure he visited the upstairs during a tornado?[Edited on May 6, 2009 at 1:36 AM. Reason : w]
5/6/2009 1:31:21 AM
well they taught him that he could go upstairs if it was a funnel cloud, but he should stay downstairs if there's a tornado.
5/6/2009 1:38:38 AM
im glad ur family is alright!
5/6/2009 1:42:25 AM
Glad your family is alright.Sounds like the dipshit that drove into your house is not going to be driving (or be a free man) for a looooong while.
5/6/2009 2:32:00 AM
thanks for all of the well wishes.after i found out that my family was alright I became very angry. My dad didn't get his name, but chance are he goes to my high school, and since I just graduated two years ago there's a chance I may know him.I don't wanna go all "SO TUFF", but had I been there and found out he was drunk, knowing myself there's a good chance I would've snapped, but I probably wouldn't have done anything if the cops were there. It's scary to think about what could have so easily happened had my family been in the room, but thankfully they weren't. So at the end of the day I guess I can't be mad, I just have to be thankful my family is safe.Though I really want to find out who that kid is
5/6/2009 2:48:04 AM
so whats it like living in raleigh your whole life?[Edited on May 6, 2009 at 2:50 AM. Reason : (assuming you lived in raleigh your whole life)]
5/6/2009 2:50:17 AM
I've bounced around the Raleigh area most of my lifeBorn in Fayette-Nam (go there for most holidays)But have lived in Garner/Cary/Raleigh for the past 14 years. It's okay. Not great, not horrible. the place has definitely grown. It's been sweet though going to Canes games a lot over the years, and I went to some football games at CF before it blew up, and saw Torry Holt play, etc.But it can be boring a lot, holy shit. That's my main complaint, there's not much to do.
5/6/2009 2:54:44 AM

5/6/2009 9:16:04 AM
well, the OP's first sentence said "spotted pretty much over my neighborhood in Cary" so...what would give you the idea it was anywhere but Cary?
5/6/2009 9:18:30 AM
right i didnt remember it saying that after reading everything else, when i saw it after i post i corrected it,dont see whats hard to understand about that
5/6/2009 9:19:45 AM
Next time you have a question, you should probably re-read everything to see if you can find the answer so you don't get heckled [Edited on May 6, 2009 at 9:37 AM. Reason : -]

5/6/2009 9:49:56 AM
Anyways,Glad to hear that your family is safe.
5/6/2009 9:52:18 AM
Yeah but, if it wasn't for the storm, that kid probably would not have been rushing home and hit your house. So you should blame the whole incident on the storm.
5/6/2009 9:53:12 AM
5/6/2009 1:20:40 PM
There were no shell casings in the parking lot, so it didn't happen.
5/6/2009 1:46:55 PM
5/6/2009 1:56:37 PM
^ so now he needs to find out who would have died first, second, and third and protect them in that order. crazy man. glad your family is ok.
