worst sunburn I ever had: after the pain/soreness that basically kept me in bed for a day, it transitioned to unbearable waves of the worst itching feeling I have ever felt

I literally was wanting to scratch my skin off, and actually would writhe and contort from the strength of the itch waves

constant massage with numbing sunburn gel was the only thing to even temporarily relieve it, water made it worse

Ocean potion is the best thing. It has aloe in it, but it's a lotion, so it's not sticky.

The worst sunburnt I got was in southern Georgia. I couldn't stand up the next day, I definitely had sun poisening. But I had to still be out at the pool (job) so I covered up completely. Which makes the burn much worse. I went through 3 layers of skin with the burn.

It was the most awful thing ever.

For temporary relief, take a clean folded sheet and put it in the freezer. Once it is nice and cold, wrap it around your naked body and enjoy. My brother and I use to do this all the time as sunburnt extra fried crispy teenagers.

I passed out on the beach face down right as the sun was coming up one summer. My back peeled off in a solid sheet and hurt like crazy for several weeks. Now I worry every time my doctor finds a mole he doesn't like on my back and sends it off for biopsy. It doesn't help matters that I already have a ton of moles on my body to begin with.

This is why I use SPF 70. I saw some "SPF100+" last night in Target..might have to grab that.

it doesn't matter what your SPF rating is...you're still being bombarded with UVA rays, which is destroying your skin, too (it's just not as obvious)

I know, which is why I get the broad spectrum stuff. Neutrogena sunscreen FTW.

^ i think that's probably one of the best available...the avo/oxybenzone takes care of the UVA rays and the octisalate takes care of the UVB

i'm not aware of any widely-available sunscreens that provide that

I was at the beach this weekend and somehow managed to miss a few spots on my chest, shoulders, and part of my back. I look like a frikkin' Picasso.

Lucky1 and I were fishing all day yesterday. He had his shirt off and his back and chest are fried! My face got burned, but that's all. My arms finally got a little more sun, and I have a definite farmers tan going!

I feel so bad for some of ya'll! Sun burn is the worst! I got plenty growing up ginger ('haha' i know...) but now I am seasoned with expertise on not getting burned. In fact I actually tan now. You just got to use the spf lotion and not try to be so bad ass. Sun will getcha!

They do. Or at least they used to, I'm pretty sure. I think I had some a few years ago.

My best friend went to the beach for senior week before graduation and came back with an awesome tan line.

She slapped a hand full of sunscreen on her chest and dragged. Left a white hand print on red skin.

Went to HPU's graduation on Saturday, which was outside in the sun. They read every single name and so we sat there for three hours. Now I have awkward tan/burn lines. Haven't been that red in a while.
