it was funny, but it seemed like it was more a series of settings to make jokes about rather than an actual story. of course, i dont think you can expect too much from a jack black movie, and it had a really good cast that kept the theater laughin even if you didnt know where the story was goin or why.

This looks funny in the trailers, with good awkward comedy. I especially like the "I'd like to see how big you are without that whip...Oh, same approximate size" one.

I really enjoyed the movie. Lots of hilarious situations where old-world culture collides with modern sensibilities.

Thats kind of all I expected from it. The same way I can enjoy a family guy episode thats mostly non-sequitur jokes/flashbacks and very little overhead story.

as have i. this isnt the same thing as say anchorman making jokes about the 70s, hence why i tried to point it out. i cant really explain it much better without spoilers, but some of the reviews on rotten tomatoes reference it as well.

Micheal Cera was great in it. But overall I was hoping/expecting the film to be funnier. There are some great jokes in it though. Worth my time.

yes he plays the same character in every movie, but i see that character as george michael from arrested development so its still funny to me

I'll go along with the "Good not Great" comment. Definitely reminded me of History of the World Part 1. Some of the editing during the very beginning of the movie seemed really choppy.

i thought this movie was horrible. there are very few parts that are actually funny with the exception of the high priest. i pretty much laughed for the entirety of any scene he was in.

This movie was a mess. Fortunately, I've also seen Strange Wilderness, so I know it could have been a WHOLE lot worse. Still sucked, though.

Plot was really weak. During the big fight scene at the end I was really curious as to why the rest of the tribe that previously hated Jack Black was now on his side.

There were definitely funny parts but I'd say wait for rental.

I thought it was great when the priest (Oliver Platt) was trying to explain how you die if you go in the holy room and he was like "So are there just a bunch of dead bugs lying around in there?"
