when i was at Kinder Care the summer after 2nd grade, they had a pool on site and we went swimming like every day. they told us that there was a chemical in the pool that turned bright orange when you peed and it followed you wherever you went, so we better not pee in the pool or everyone would know!

i think i was in HS before i finally realized that wasn't true

When I was a kid my dad whipped my ass one time for peeing in the pool. We were at a hotel in Colorado and they saw me from the room's window.

Yeah, I wasn't IN the pool at the time. Dad said "If I can see you standing there pissing, everyone else in this place can too!" He wore that belt out on me that day...

i haven't peed in a pool in a long long long long time.

i don't even remember doing it a lot when i was little. i would just run to the bathroom and pee through my bathing suit and then jump back in. yes i said through my bathing suit. so that is pretty bad.

wait........... so there really isn't a dye that turns a color if you pee in that area? I figured it was a myth but I also figured someone someday would really figure out how to make this

some folks have messed around with the idea, but the options they have would result in false alarms from all sorts of normal pool contaminants

for example, sweat isn't much different than piss

... yeah but you don't sweat out some of types of toxins you pee out!

I answered my own question anyways

Quote :
"Yes there are chemicals that react to urine. This was on another Urban Legens show a long time ago, it's just if you used them in a pool to the concentration where it would tell any tales, the water would be toxic waste and not fit to swim in."

What a disappointment.

^^ I'm talking about things that are toxic to your body. That's why if something happens to your bladder and the toxins leak into your body, it's very bad

Yes, and your urine has a much higher concentration of uric acid than sweat does...but urine contains other things that sweat doesn't. not trying to argue, just sayin

if you piss in the pool, the uric acid concentration is so low it's insignificant

^^ Yeah but where did that come into play? The explanation I found was talking about the amount of chemicals you would have to put in the pool would be highly toxic

man, back in the day I was so worried about this I would pee a little bit just to see if the color changed, once I was in the clear I let it flow

haha, what a little shithead

aside from slightly elevating nitrate levels and thus creating a slightly higher chlorine demand, there is nothing bad about peeing in a pool from a health standpoint
