i'm (obviously) quite a bit out of shape compared to when i ran before unfortunately (i.e. before i got all fat and stuff)

alternated running/powerwalking the northwoods greenway (0.87mi one way) twice, so 1.74mi running, 1.74mi powerwalking. didn't time it, i think it was like 45 minutes or so.

quite dissapointed in that, but i guess i can't expect much... now that i'm actually ABLE to lose weight i plan on getting this shit off as quickly as i can, so i'm making this at least an every-morning-before-work thing. obviously i'll work my way up to longer distances/times.

my goal is to get back to like i was when i played soccer.

^you just gotta be in the right mindset and convince yourself to do it no matter what. it also helps to run in a place that's interesting to look at (i.e. one of the greenways in cary). once you get going, you realize how good you start feeling, especially if you do it before you go to work... i have SO much more energy then.

no, running for me is running.

not to be mean, but you really don't have any room to talk, roddy.

if chunky munkies do not run, they'll need to get them some new knees in a few years anyway due to carrying around all that extra weight and arthritis.

better to run. or at least get on an elliptical machine, although that's extremely boring. i'd rather be out in the fresh air and look at the lake and trees and stuff.

I hate running. not because it's cardio, but because it's boring. If I could run 30mph and make my scenery change quicker, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

The only thing worse than running is not being able to run. Hence, I shall continue to do it, despite the fact that I utterly despise the wretched boredom and exertion that is this form of self-conveyance.

The gym and/or any other exercise area is a place where fat people should be off limits for getting picked on, if you're the kind of person who picks on fat folks. Why they hell would you make fun of someone when they're actively trying to fix one of their flaws?

i don't get why i hate running. i mean i'm going to keep doing it. i'd like to run a 1/2 marathon.

swimming is just way better. and its not like looking at the bottom of a pool and swimming in circles is all that thrilling. i just like it better than running.

I'd much rather play a sport for the same or longer duration at the same or higher intensity. Running is fucking boring and it probably destroys most people's knees (a sport may do the same, but at least its not boring).

i can run on an elliptical for ever even increasing the incline or whatever and i NEVER get sore. not one part of my leg is ever sore even if i "run" at a good pace and do several miles.

but when i run outside i run like 3 miles and for the next 2 days i'm sore as shit.

[Edited on May 16, 2009 at 8:37 PM. Reason : i don't get it. indoor tracks make me kinda sore but not that sore. straight asphalt kills me.]

i'm only sore if i run more than like 2 miles...a 10 minute mile jog is perfect for not being sore
