i have the generic wal-mart version of that called Fur Buster. exact same thing except with a red handle. it's regularly $20 compared to the $50 Furminator in the OP

i just ordered the cat one.

i found it for 21 something (as much as the small dog one was on sale for)

do you really need the waterless shampoo stuff that goes with it?

my cat is shedding so much she is suffocating me. i don't care how much this thing costs it should be worth it

these things are AWESOME, totally worth it.

I haven't used the waterless shampoo, but I've thought about it so my dog doesn't smell as much between baths

it''s a LOT cheaper to just get a hair clipper replacement blade, bc that's all it is. then u can pick the length based on ur dog''s fur. they're $8 for a paor at sally beauty supply. just get a piece of wood & screw it to it. we have 2.

it works just fine w/o special shampoo, just as long as the fur is dry.

"The undercoat kept coming out, so I kept brushing. I have a grocery bag full of cat fur, the yard looks like I killed a mammal out there (just the fur that escaped me in the wind, I tried to put most of it in the grocery bag). Anyway, if you don't want a naked looking pet, stick to their time limits. "

I've heard of using baking soda between baths if you don't bathe the dog very often (instead of using waterless $hampoo). My wife and I bathe our german shepherd at least once every two weeks so we've never tried the baking powder thing.

The fur never stops coming off. Brush all you want; it will never stop. Right now, the back of my yard looks like I tore the stuffing out of a couple plush toys (groomed yesterday morning).

Key areas on a german shepherd seem to be the cheeks and hamstring area

At one point, birds were picking up the hair from the lawn to use in nests, but now they don't bother.

I bought one based on this thread.

should be here wednesday.

i took a fresh towel out of the dryer this weekend and when i dried my face off after shaving, i felt like i was wiping myself with a fistful of dog hair.
