opinions on these? i went to best buy's private sale last night where they had a demo set up, and i really couldn't tell a difference between it and a high end plasma. i was also disappointed that it has that obnoxious glare like plasmas do, so i would imagine i'll still be getting lcds in the future

are you talking about the new Sonys? I was under the impression that they are still LCD, just LED backlit instead of bulb.

and the glossy screen is just an aspect of that particular model, not of any specific kind of TV. at least as far as I know.

plasma screens are glass ^^ so they tend to be more glossy/reflective.

The LED backlit LCDs are supposed to have more uniform backlighting, better contrast ratios, and consume less power.

^^not all of them have a glossy screen. panasonic plasmas have a matte coating on the screen. i've never had an glare problem.

motion is way better in a plasma than a lcd imo.

yea they are still lcds .the leds are prone to uneven wear and rated for only about 50,000 hrs vs 100,000+ on a lot of plasmas. being new tech they are priced a lot higher than most sets. i say give them another generation or 2 to fall in price and work out up the longevity. for now imho plasma is still king of performance esp considering price.
