I've seen two different ones in as many days

I knew a girl who had a cat in her dorm room.
5/21/2009 10:15:42 AM
That just screams "I'll be a crazy cat woman in another 20 years."

^^Well, she was already drinking straight liquor at the time... possibly self-medicating?On a side note:Using the appropriate prefixes, suffixes and root words, what exactly would be the scientific name for a crazy cat woman?

I thought the Stray Cats were coming to NCSU.

I'll be a cat lady, just not a crazy hermit kind. I have kittens that need homes in about 2 weeks. I am in the process of trapping and taking the ferals to the pound. I was going to do the free spay/neuter thing for ferals, but its not worth the trouble and they're untouchable.[Edited on May 21, 2009 at 11:04 AM. Reason : ]

STRAYS!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE_vfiZZkAQ
5/21/2009 11:21:26 AM
I avoid the SPCA for ^^^ that reason! I sometimes wish Grits had chewed himself a bobtail instead of a shorter tail , I know how mean that is! Oh man, 6 toes!! I would have HAD to adopt it! There's a puny black kitten in this litter that I call 'B-Whittle', she is a ham and can't get enough attention! I think she's going to have blue eyes... I want to keep her, but I can't. I pick her up and she just curls up and flops and purrs so loud, she just rolls and rolls in my hands and scrubs her little cheeks on my fingers... its SO precious! She's no longer than a golf pencil and likes to look into your eyes.[Edited on May 21, 2009 at 11:25 AM. Reason : ]

there used to be this tree right near my dorm in hawaii that i thought twice about walking past at night because of all the stray cats in it. i'm talking 30-40 cats at a time.
5/21/2009 11:27:48 AM
just put a bow tie on em and 30-40 cats become less threatening and more charming. like a welcomeow party.
5/21/2009 1:41:42 PM
There are 4-5 of them around my apartment complex. Two of them had a fight on the roof of my car and scratched it all to hell. "This is why we can't have nice things."

^^^Nice. Gotta say it 9 more times, though.

if the cats' left ears are cropped, that means they're spayed/neutered. i trap ferals and have them spayed/neutered through operation catnip, and i know the girls who are trapping the ones on campus. if you take ferals to the shelter they're just put to sleep, because of course they're not touchable.. if you use live traps then operation catnip does the rest. then you release them, and they can live out their lives like they're used to, they just won't reproduce and perpetuate the problem.
5/21/2009 3:16:17 PM
I didn't note the ears. That's a good tidbit of information, though. Thanks.re: operation catnip. Someone on here once posted looking to borrow a trap. I offered to give them one, and never heard back. I've had the same thing happen on CL. Seems like maybe some of your volunteers aren't so committed (we've got a trap that wake co seems to have lost track of, and hasn't billed us for)[Edited on May 21, 2009 at 3:44 PM. Reason : sdf]

^^ There's a waitlist till July for the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) in Greensboro. Otherwise, I'd be fine with waiting. They called me Monday when I was at the beach and said they had an opening for this past Tuesday. They only do the 'feral fix' on Tuesdays. I just can't wait that long and keep letting them fight or get knocked up in that period of time. (If they get pregnant, its just that much longer you have to wait to have them fixed!) I need to have 5 taken away, and one spayed. Was going to be 2, but she left when Dad let her outside for a break from the kittens (like we've been doing), and I think she died. She had been acting weird lately. And yesterday morning, my Dad went outside and thought one of the cats was not paying attention to him. He goes to poke it just so make her jump, and she was solid as a rock. She had somehow hung herself from the car ramps. Not to mention the kitten that was killed by 2 feral dogs about 2 months ago - the damn dogs went under my house and got the kitten and carried her out and killed her. The Animal Control was called out and 1 of the dogs has been trapped and killed. Not sure about the other one.Our neighborhood has a serious feral problem, but its our location and how many kids are in the neighborhood that makes it that way. People just dump them out near by, and they always find US! It's like there's some kind of invisible sign on our house that says "COME HERE! THEY FEED YOU FOR FREE AND WON'T BE MEAN TO YOU!"[Edited on May 21, 2009 at 4:01 PM. Reason : ]

^^ haha hopefully they found a trap, and didn't just forget about wanting one. if you still have the trap, and don't want it anymore... i would totally take it, and get a lot of good use out of it. ^oooh greensboro. i thought you were in raleigh. too bad about the waitlist. i believe there's one for the OC here, so they started offering spots to people every other month.. half the list one month, half the list the next. there are a lot of vets here in raleigh that take OC vouchers, but each voucher is $50 now. needless to say i wait for the free clinics. they also spay pregnant cats here. sad, but easier than finding all the kittens homes.

my truck tires are doing their part to control the cat population
