Generally speaking, if you get hit by an emergency vehicle that is running sirens and lights, the emergency vehicle is "responsible" if they are in a collision.

True... and that normally doesn't matter. If they are running lights and sirens, they are deemed responsible.According to a Durham PD officer i know, if he is in a wreck while running lights and siren, the PD takes responsibility for the accident. The same is supposedly done with FD and most EMS.

never heard that before.of course, i've never been associated with a department who has had an accident while running code 3... only accident was cold coming back from the hospital... drunk guy ran a red light and plowed into the truck... despite this, people in the community still said it was our fault.
