Dry counties are everywhere. At least the federal government had the brains to get rid of that shit decades ago.

State governments are fucking stupid

Americans are still puritans compared with the rest of the world.

actually I believe it was an amendment (to OP)

I've always wondered why alcohol prohibition required constitutional treatment, while other substances seem to be fine with a bullshit loophole. The introductory paragraph of CSA goes something like, "Substance trade frequently occurs across state lines, and we have the power to regulate that. We can't determine if something was manufactured, distributed, or acquired in a manner that would empower us, so we assume authority there anyway."

that's what you get for letting religion dictate what is and what is not legal.

The Federal Government currently confiscates 15.3% of your income to pay-out the largest ponzi scheme in world history.

In that light, alcohol prohibition is quite believable.

Ponzi schemes are portrayed as investments from which you are guaranteed a minimum return. This return is accomplished by collecting money from new investors and redistributing it to the current investors.

Insurance makes no claim of paying out unless you need it. You're essentially paying someone to take ownership of your risks.

How this turned into an attack on insurance I do not know, but I feel very lucky to have health insurance and I hope to never have to use it.

^ it's not an attack on insurance. it's an attack on social security and violation of the Constitution in general.

^^ yeah, insurance is like a warranty. completely different from a ponzi scheme (to include social security).
