That is outside of your normal listening bubble.

I tend to listen to Rap/R&B

But I <3 the song "Hot for Teacher"
and for some reason I know all the words to "Roxanne"

What chu gat?

I like R, and I like B, but I don't like R&B. There must be some chemical reaction between the two....
Although... if it's cheesy old-school R&B that reminds me of middle-school dances, then I sometimes enjoy it.

as a general rule, rap and country suck donkey balls in my book

of course there are songs from each genre that i like...there's even some pop that i don't mind

The blues, punk rock (depending on the band, lots of that shit is just excessive whiny noise), bossa nova, other lounge type music.

ditto...any cheesy R&B, rock or pop song that brings up memories of slow dancing in a rec center or silk shirts and colored pants make me

for example...Rock Steady, I Wanna Sex You Up (tick tock you don't stop!!), No Diggity, Bump n Grind, Bryan Adams in general

Mmm... Kinda all over the place I guess. I listen to a lot of what I listened to in high school (metal, industrial, mixes of the two, fairly angry noisy stuff) and now have added a variety of music including different types of techno/electronica, some club music (namely a few specific DJ's that make good trance music which keeps me productive), a variety of chillout music (morcheeba, hooverphonic), and some other more modern/orchestral metal bands.

No rap or country.

[Edited on June 1, 2009 at 9:05 AM. Reason : Oh yeah, listen to 100.7 or 102.9 a lot. Classic Rock & Oldies/Motown/Greatest Hits.]

anything from oldies to disco to 80's to rock to metal to classical to techno to jazz to bluegrass

i feel like i'm pretty open to a lot of different types of music...i classify R&B as different than rap, though i'm not entirely sure i could determine the difference in a lot of that type of music except on the extreme ends (some songs are obviously rap and some are obviously R&B, but the it's the gray area between, where i think a lot of today's music falls, that i couldn't say for sure)

personally, the majority of rap sounds the same to me, both in terms of lyrics and music...and it annoys the hell out of me when someone "resamples" something popular, mostly because i feel like it's a shortcut for no-talent hacks (i realize that it does take skill, but i can only tolerate so much regurgitation before it gets old)

to me, R&B is the more original side of the R&B/rap spectrum...it seems to be more musically unique with more emphasis on the music itself and less focus on talking in rhythm...which is why i find myself enjoying more R&B than rap, overall

country is kind of the same thing...the blatantly country stuff (anything with a twang) is annoying to me, so the only "country" music i like is the pop kind (and even then, not much)...i love SOME bluegrass (nickel creek is by far one of my favorite bands), but some is just obnoxious to me

*shrug*...i'm not vinylbandit and so i don't claim to be a musical connoisseur...i think it's more that i dislike certain music more than i specifically like others (which is why the "what kind of music do you listen to" question is annoying to me)

quag, i may not be able to convince you to like rap but I believe if i tried i could probably convince you that rap is really just as original and creative as any other genre. but not right now

I primarily listen to Top 40 stuffs.

But sometimes when I am riding in the car, I just have to turn it to a country station and sing.

"silk shirts and colored pants"

Holy crap that made me lol . . . I remember someone had a bright purple button up silk shirt

I have a special place for that ridiculous old school rap

"I was at the mall, sippin' on a milkshake
Playin' the wall, takin' a break
Admirin' the girls with the bamboo earings
Baby hair and bodies built to swing
That's when I seen her
Her name was Tina
Grace and poise kinda like a ballerina
I said, "How you doin', my name's Big L
Don't ask me how I'm livin', 'cause, yo, I'm living swell
But then again I'm livin' kind of foul
'Cause my girl don't know that I'm out on the prowl"
To make a long story short, I got the digits
Calls her on my car phone and paid her a visit
I was spankin' her and thankin' her, chewin' her and doin' her
Layin' like a king on sheets of satin
That's what time it is, you know what's happenin'
She had a big ole booty, I was doin' my duty
I mean, yo, I admit that my girl's a cutie
But Tina was erotic, Earl's my witness
With the kind of legs that put stockings out of business
When I went home, I kissed my girl on the cheek
But in the back of my mind it was this big butt freak
I sat my girl down, I couldn't hold it in
And said to her with a devilish grin...

TINA got a big ole butt"
