It's been creeping up for months. But it was high for about 24 hours when they decided to put her in for the 24 hour observation.

We're both back home. Well, we're at her mom's house just because it's closer to the hospital than our house. She's holding steady at about 155/85 (on average) so they're content to keep her coming in for NSTs twice a week just to make sure the babies are doing ok.

Are you ready for delivery? If they're starting to discuss options now and you're already at 36 weeks (most babies are deliverable without complications then) then it sounds like your body might just be saying "I'm done with this, get the kid out NOW!"

I hit 36 weeks Tuesday and my blood pressure was down enough yesterday for no bedrest (133/85). yay!

I am having an extra ultrasound tomorrow to check for size and it sounds like they are going to induce me early. At 30 weeks, he was over 5 pounds. By feel, my doctor puts him between 7.5-8 pounds. She said he might be a long baby which is why she wanted me to go get an ultrasound done.

I am happy her blood pressure is getting back into control. I yelled loudly at my husband's good friend that has been getting on my nerves and festering. I completely contribute that and drinking water to the down fall of my blood pressure.

Well, her BP went backup and we decided to deliver this morning

David Curtis Wright and James Douglas Wright (4.5 and 4.2 lbs)!

They're NICUed right now, but I get to go see them again in 15 minutes!

I had the baby.....

FYI: I had Class II.....moderately severe HELLP Syndrome and was extremely fortunate I recognized something was wrong last weekend.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HELLP_syndrome

I had some non specific pain but nothing out of the ordinary for my typical swelling and my blood pressure was back where it needed to be. I thought the baby was positioned weird, because when I worked real hard to move him I could get the pain to stop. My liver could have failed. The on call doctor decided to check for gall stones last Saturday evening. She ran a typical blood panel and was surprised with the results and quickly reran it. By 5 am, I was in extreme distress and the baby was out shortly later.- Unresponsive since my blood pressure spiked in the OR. The baby was resuscitated in 5 min later I could hear him crying.

He was the biggest baby in the special care nursery......I got to see him 2 days later.

The day he was born: 9/12

Today:

He was 7 pounds even and 19 inches long. He was born officially 4 weeks early. They said I could have had a 9.5 pound baby full term

I hope your twins and wife are doing great.....we need pictures!

Congrats forkgirl!

Welp, may as well put up their NCCC pictures since they'll be in there for a few more weeks.

David Curtis Wright

James Douglas Wright

They've since been taken off of the open beds and graduated to terrariums (incubators). They've both had mild lung issues, which is to be expected from 32week preemies. They're currently starting to learn bottle and breast feeding (David's better at the bottle, James is better at the breast).

The benefit of their terrariums is that they can now wear clothes, but I don't have pics of that yet. My wife's ex stopped by Thursday to take some professional quality pics of them with their clothes and incubators so we should be getting those soon.

One day they will properly hate me for having these pics online

Congratulations, y'all!

I'm 38 weeks today and miserable. I'm still teaching every day because I don't have the days for leave unless I want to take unpaid for 2 weeks. I had a really sweet class until another teacher couldn't handle her own class, so they transferred one of her most challenging students to my room. The stress and drama of it all is just too much.

I'm scared to death of labor but ready at the same time. I've already been through nesting and everything at home is ready except for me. I can't make decisions about anything. For example- to get an enema or not. (TMI, I know) Now I also have a sinus infection which just tops off feeling so miserable.

^^I got the e-mail this week that said 38 week.....

I can totally commiserate with being miserable. I was sick for the 6 weeks before my liver started to fail. Although I do not know how normal labor will be, I will say the doctors and nurses around me helped me tremendously. They were great at answering questions and coming to see me every 5 min. They do it all the time and when I realized that it was a great resource. 3

On the plus side, I have already lost most of the water I was carrying in my legs. Just that one thing makes me feel great.

Hang in there. I understand about time off. We have no money for me to take unpaid leave. The bills from the NICU and the hospital have started to roll in......and it just isn't in the cards. I am going to try to work a weird schedule opposite my husband to try to keep him out of daycare as long as I can.

Good luck.

Congrats to all the new parents and their healthy babies - everyone is so cute!

Forkgirl, so sorry to hear you had HELLP - I had it with my first son and it was awful. Hope you are feeling better!

We welcomed our bundle on September 17th at 10:34 pm - Beckett James
8 lb, 4 oz 20.5 inches long. My due date was Oct 5th, but my water broke Friday night, so we did the c-section then - he's doing really great

These are the boys this morning in one of their cribs upstairs. They're still small enough that they're in a smaller hand-me-down crib in our bedroom at nights, but when I want to give the wife some quiet time in the morning I've taken to bringing the boys upstairs to the nursery since it's good and far away from her hearing.

I've been up since 1am with my boys. They're both having a gassy night. My wife and I have split things up so I take care of them in the early AM while she takes the late PM. Usually I wind up in bed by 8 or 9. Yeah, there are some good nights but mostly we get around 4 hours of sleep a night at best.

I feel pretty lucky in the sleep department. She sleeps for chunks of 4 or 5 hours at night. I'm not complaining about that!

I ****love**** my OB/GYN. She and I have been through a lot together. I'm debating hauling my ass back to Raleigh to have baby #2 after we move to Greenville because I really want the same team that I had for my first baby. I'm probably just going to schedule another C-section, so I wouldn't think that it would be a big deal if everything went smoothly.

Awww everyone's new fall babies are adorable! I love this thread!

Bottombaby - Congrats on #2! That's so exciting - Silas will be about 3 when the new baby arrives?

Forkgirl - We're also having inconsistent sleep. Beckett is almost 6 weeks old, and sometimes he'll go 2-3 hours sleeping, and sometimes he won't even fall back asleep. We're also dealing with terrible acid reflux issues, so he gets fussy after I nurse him. Have you tried co-sleeping? We all get the best sleep when he's in bed with us. But definitely not for everyone.
