the battery port in my compaq evo laptop is damaged and so now I am unable to charged my laptop with my external battery outlet. All my data is on my laptop harddrive, could I placed my laptop harddrive iinto my desktop by removing my desktop harddrive and replacing it with my laptop harddrive? IF that is not a viable solution, what do you advise me to do with my laptop harddrive if it cannot be imported into my desktop?

yes but you need an adapter to transfer the data over..they sell them at Intrex and other PC shops if you want it soon. otherwise order it off ebay.

if you want to mount it in your desktop they have brackets too.

I need an adapter for my laptop or desktop to transfer all of my data on my laptop harddrive into my desktop? What computers parts do I need to buy in order to complete this task? Could a novice be able to transfer all the data on my laptop hardrive into my desktop harddrive or should I consult a professional who has prior knowledge of transferring data on laptop drives into desktop harddrives?

I also want to know if I am able to swap my laptop harddrive into a desktop not made by the same computer company; i.e. swap compaq evo laptop drive into dell desktop computer.

honestly if youre asking these questions i'd get someone to help you (eg you need to be really careful when the drive is spinning cause you can kill it easily)

this is what you need:
http://cgi.ebay.com/LAPTOP-2-5-HD-TO-3-5-IDE-HARD-DRIVE-HDD-ADAPTER-KIT_W0QQitemZ390026805493QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Cables_Adapters?hash=item5acf68c0f5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1205|240:1308|301:1|293:1|294:50

^ yes the brand does not matter

Go to Intrex's website: http://www.intrex.com/parts/parts.aspx

and search for this part: ADA-2.5TO3.5

This is likely what you need to actually install the laptop drive into your desktop.

Alternatively, you could buy an external enclosure. Either the ENC-USB2.5SD or ENC-SATA2.5.
