i just don't really understand the point of a username if you can already search for people by their actual name (or businesses or whatever). except for the URL i guess. and my facebook address has never ever come up in conversation with someone before. and sending a link with numbers in it hasn't really bothered me. i guess i get the convenience of the URL. seems like that would mostly be helpful for like businesses.
