"Best veterinarian

Carrboro Plaza Veterinary Clinic 104-M Carrboro Plaza • Carrboro • 929-0031 • http://www.carrboroplazavet.com"

Best vet in the triangle, because that's how we roll!

See any winners on there you like, any you don't think should be there, any you are responsible for their winning?

"Best comic book store

Chapel Hill Comics 316 W Franklin St • Chapel Hill • 967-4439 • http://www.chapelhillcomics.com

finalists: Ultimate Comics, Capitol Comics"

It's too bad Ultimate Comics didn't make it to the top, they've always been a great comic shop.

Southpoint Cinemas 8030 Renaissance Pkwy Suite 975 • Durham • 313-6627 • http://www.streetsatsouthpoint.com/html/movielisting.asp"

That one didn't surprise me. I've frequented Southpoint both while living in Raleigh & in Chapel Hill.

finalists: Cosmic Cantina, Moe's Southwest Grill"

I like Carrburritos, we have their food for lunch at Carrboro Plaza Vet frequently for meetings, but I'm still a Taco Bell man myself.

me either - though there are several in the area. except this one opened in 08 (moxie opened in 07) and carries the EXACT same shit (not just brands, like the same exact items) as moxie. and earlier this year, in feb, i walked by their store window and they had like the same freaking decorations as our store window.

i thought it was just one of those things, now i'm getting suspicious!

edit: i asked my bosses about it and they said a month after this woman opened her store, she came to my store and asked them if they wanted to buy it. doh.

finalists: Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro, Mediterranean Deli & Catering, Sitti"

Isn't that like almost ALL the middle eastern restaurants in the area?

Quote :
"Best place to buy erotic gifts

Cherry Pie 1819 Fordham Blvd • Chapel Hill • 928-0499 • http://www.cherrypieonline.com

finalists: Adam & Eve, Frisky Business Boutique, Priscilla's"

I only live like 3 miles from them now. Before I knew what they were, when I was driving by I thought I saw a sign that said Cheesy Pie, and I thought "what an interesting name for a pizza place, I'll have to eat there sometimes"... boy was I mistaken.

Quote :
"Best barbecue

Allen & Son 6203 Millhouse Rd • Chapel Hill • 942-7576

finalists: Barbecue Joint, The Original Q-Shack, The Pit"

Is this true? I feel like there have to be some people who are passionate about their BBQ.

Quote :
"Best pizza

Lilly's Pizza 1813 Glenwood Ave • Raleigh • 833-0226 • http://www.lillyspizza.com

finalists: Amante Gourmet Pizza, Mellow Mushroom, Pepper's Pizza"

I haven't been to Hillsborough Street in a while, is Sylvia's still around? (not saying they should have won)

Quote :
"Best place to people watch while drinking a beer

Top of the Hill 100 E Franklin St • Chapel Hill • 929-8676 • http://www.topofthehillrestaurant.com

finalists: The Raleigh Times Bar, Tyler's Restaurant & Taproom"

You can see everything from up there. I know they've won tons of Best of the Triangle Awards before for their brews, so I guess its no surprise here they won several categories again.

Best tattoo studio

Blue Flame Tattoo 710 W Peace St • Raleigh • 755-3355 • http://www.blueflametattoo.com

finalists: Dogstar Tattoo Company, Phoenix Tattoo Studios"

Total BS that Warlocks didn't make it onto either of these as even a finalist.

finalists: Visions, Legends
Best gay bar

I've never heard of Steel Blue until now.

finalists: WKNC, 88.1 FM, G105, 105.1 FM"

I'm surprised they won (or that any news/talk station could) especially considering that they didn't push people to vote for it on air at all that I heard.

Quote :
"Best place to hear hip-hop

Cat's Cradle 300 E Main St • Carrboro • 967-9053 • http://www.catscradle.com

finalists: Lincoln Theatre, Local 506, The Pour House Music Hall"

No surprise that the Cat's Cradle won the music scene awards.

The Carolina Ale House seemed to be a big winner in a lot of categories.

All credibility for these awards = lost.

The Pit is average bbq, no better than smithfields, but at 5 x the price.

Q-shack is terrible nasty ass texas shit.

FUCK THAT NOISE. probably a bunch of fucking hippie ass fuckers making this list don't know what the fuck good barbecue is.

Allen and Son in Chatham county, just north of Pittsboro on the Haw is delicious, not the best, but delicious.

The one just north of Chapel Hill is good, but leaves something to be desired.

Q-Shack is awful.

Wilbur's in Goldsboro ftw.

Chapel Hill Comics is barely a comic books shop.

Maybe if you're into graphic novels, collections and manga.

Other than that, I can get the same single issues at Borders. Chapel Hill comics doesn't have shit for back issues.

^^^Well, I don't think Wilbur's had a shot being outside of the triangle and all. The BBQ joint is pretty good, but everything is better than Jim's Infamous BBQ.

^I guess the results aren't terrible... at least Claire's didn't come up on the piercing list.

It's a pretty chill place and all, and probably my first stop if I'm looking for collected editions of shit.

But it's far from a comic book shop.

I'm down with this on all accounts.

Ultimate, then Capitol, then Foundation's Edge, but I'm in Greensboro now so it's Parts Unknown for me. Acme can eat me.

True story: I worked in Burlington for a year a few years ago. The Subway across from work was voted "Best Sandwich". The KFC down the street was "Best Fried Chicken". Best deli was Wal-Mart.

Burlington Times-News "Best of Burlington".

When you have Hursey's for chicken, Boston Sandwich Shop for sandwiches, and a Harris-Teeter, there's no excuse for that, even if you are Burlington.
