NBA Draft coming up, and it's early, but still something to discuss in the slow sports season.

1)Duke
2)Clemson
3)UNC
4)NC State
5)GT
6)BC
7)FSU
8)Wake
9)Maryland
10)VT
11)UVA
12)Miami

Slightly State optimistic but reasonable considering who looks to be leaving. I had Wake and Maryland higher before they appear to be losing Teague and Vazquez for sure.

lol

i'd be THRILLED if we were above 8 at any point past the first few games of the acc season.

I'll be surprised if we finished in the top half of the conference, but I definitely can't see us at 4. Too many unknowns to really project but lowe needs to finish higher than 10th to be off the hot seat. One more year in the bottom 3 is one too many.

The ACC will be very weak next year so we could make a big jump

it's hard for me to believe that Duke will be number 1 at this point considering they lost their best player... but i guess they also get two pretty good guys, and have a lot of experience. still no proven point guard or big man though

UNC will be very talented upfront but who knows how good Larry Drew will be when asked to lead a team? wasn't impressed with him last year. they also don't really have anyone who's shown they can shoot the 3.

Clemson will probably be good, but it's Clemson. they will underachieve

Georgia Tech should probably be in the top 3 based on talent alone. if Jeff Teague comes back, Wake will probably be decent also.

State might be the most fun team to watch all year. who knows how good we will be but I can't wait to see how some of these new guys fit in. probably most excited about Howell

here's a more realistic prediction:

1-11) Everyone else
12) NC State

We won't finish above 8th in the conference. We are going to be about the same if not a little worse next year than this year.

Put a solid 2 min of thinking into this list...

1) UNC - b/c every year ABC-ers say the Holes will have an off year... those fuckers reload and make us all look stupid...
2) Duke - b/c they still don't have a PG or big guy
3) Clemson - b/c they never live up to the hype
4) Wake - b/c they still have talent
5) GT - b/c Hewitt is still a terrible coach
6) BC - why not...
7) FSU - lost Toney Douglas
8) NC State - b/c we're NC State
9) Maryland - b/c I fucking hate the Twerps
10) Miami - b/c somebody had to go here
11) VT - b/c I was too lazy to figure out whether VT would improve this year
12) UVA - b/c they're fucking terrible (hence firing their coach)

^that's a pretty solid list, the only changes I would make would be to move BC down to the 9-11 range (the talent just isn't there), drop GT a few spots (Hewitt can't coach his way out of a cardboard box) and move VT up a few spots (they still have Jeff Allen and Delaney, they're going to be solid)

^^Switch the Techs and its more like it. Va Tech has been pretty solid since they joined. Like ^ said Delaney and Allen is a pretty good 1-2 punch. Delaney could be first team ACC this coming year with Lawson gone.

The conference will be pretty bad. Every team has major flaws. In order of my prediction:

1)Duke - No PG, no typical big man, not very athletic without Henderson.
2)Clemson - Undersized and young. Lost their best shooter. Athletic but very few good shooters.
3)UNC - Solid at the 4 and 5 positions with whoever they play there, but 0 experience at the 1 or 2. No proven ball handlers and no proven solid shooters.
4)NC State - We're NC State, shit happens. can be turnover prone, and doesn't often play defense. Talented, but most of the talent is young.
5)GT - Young, but very very talented. Biggest weakness is the coach.
6)BC - No proven answer at PG. No Rice.
7)FSU - Similar to BC.
8)Wake - Loses a lot of NBA talent and has a coach that I think is about as bad if not worse than Hewitt.
9)Maryland - Undersized and undertalented squad last year loses its PG and doesn't do any upgrading. Great Coach, but it'll be a bad season.
10)VT - Greenberg is overrated, and they aren't exactly that talented.
11)UVA - New coach = new system. It's hard to say they'll be much better than last year when they didn't have a GT good recruiting class to bring in talent
12)Miami - They were pretty bad most of last year and lose the best shooter Miami has ever known. Most people aren't exactly sold on Haith.

That completely contradicts putting them in 4th place.

However, this year should be interesting. Lowe no longer has any of Herb's recruits, so no more excuses. I am honestly thinking that we will finish around 10th or 11th. Just too young and inexperienced. And we get out coached in most of our games.

haha it's alright. I wouldn't be so optimistic if the ACC wasn't so fucking terrible for next year. I'll be surprised if we have 2 sweet 16 teams next year. I'll be even more surprised if more than 5 ACC teams make the tourney. We won't by any means be a great team, but neither will anyone in the ACC.

Kansas, Michigan State, Kentucky, Nova, Texas, Washington, Louisville, and maybe Oklahoma will all be pretty good next year. The top tier or so of teams will be as strong or stronger than last year. The next tier is a big drop.

That sucks. In theory, the parity should be increasing every year, assuming that competition is getting fiercer at the high school level and that a larger population has more super stars. Oh well.

Elliot Williams is transferring form Duke.

Their only guards are now Scheyer and Nolan Smith. and a fifth year walkon.

Why do you and others think that Virginia Tech is all of a sudden going to suck?

With Delaney and Allen, they might have the best 1-2 punch in the ACC now.

aha, I like how you talk shit about Greenberg and then praise Purnell even though they have almost the same exact record at their current schools (100-70 vs 94-70). Proof yet again that BigEgo doesn't actually know anything about college basketball.
