Has anyone here bought a Mini from a dealership, with a warranty, and can relate just how much of a pain it is to get the car services in Winston Salem? Are there any options to get warranty work done outside of the dealership? As much as I would love to get another BMW, I am looking at all the cars that have good gas mileage, and this car is on my list. Not exactly sure how we have a Smart dealership, but not a Mini dealership....

rover of cary should be able to do most the work. I mean they do make it. and hell it has a dodge neon motor anyway.

I would just get another bimmer man. that mini is kinda worthless without making it a track car.

hit me up for some kickball

Even given the fact that 99% of your posts are pure gibberish, that is one of the STUPIDEST posts you ever made in the garage.

I, too, thought that statement was hilariously retarded.

CarZin, I'm not sure what your price range is, but if you can afford it the new diesel 3 Series is a beast of a car and still gets 40mpg on the highway.

425lb-ft of torque, what what

(costs $50k though, I think )

I actually heard that Cary Auto Park is supposed to get a Mini dealership in the fall. However, Ive done a lot more research since I made this post, and there are some pretty horrific repair bills for these things (that put my BMW to shame).

^ I would go for a BMW diesel. 50k is a lot to spend on a 3 series, however, considering all the other options out there.

My car now has 228k miles on it (97 BMW z3). Hopefully it will go another year or so and open up some more options.

Sell the mini. You'll thank me later.

Those things are pieces of chit. My girlfriend had one....

Edit: oh, and she had to take it to Winston for everything...at least once every other month becuase something was always wrong with it.

they are rather bad pieces of shit.

things actually do fall off of them while you are moving or not.

rocks will get caught in the electric power steering cooling fan and require replacement.

inside door handle breaks off b/c of poor quality materials. dealer quotes $400 for repair.

constant automatic transmission issues. $3000.

the list goes on and on. some people gladly pay it.

[Edited on June 12, 2009 at 1:08 PM. Reason : when i was in GSO, the local bmw dealer was the service center.]

That happened

Yep..she had an automatic. Hers got to where it wouldn't switch into 4th gear...or if it did, it would go back into 3rd after 30 seconds or so and rev at 4,000 rpm doing 45-50 mph

We had a windshield wiper fly off on the highway.

There was also this horrible rattle from the sunroof that absolutely never went away. Not to mention no one sales thier 'special' size oil filters or any other maintenance parts stock...they always have to be specially ordered and cost 3 times as much

fwiw, a buddy has a mini. he hasn't had any problems with it at all. as far as servicing goes, he constantly brags about how the servicing is free. i do know his car (actually it's his wife's) serviced in winston-salem. the place that services it which i assume is a mini dealership brings him a loaner car to raleigh and drives his car back to be serviced. when it's done they drive the car back to him and takes back the loaner.

^ That's awesome service.

The Lexus dealership in Greensboro will come here to Raleigh and pick up my Lexus, drop off a loaner and come back afterward when the servicing is complete. However, that's an extra 130 miles roundtirp, which I'd rather keep off the car. I wish Johnson of Lexus would do this. But fuck them. Well actually, their servicing department is nice, it's their sales and finance department that I have a problem with. And one of the sales managers is a prick too. [/rant]
