yea they are pretty boring these days. I definitely enjoyed "...and out come the wolves" way back in the day and I definitely have to respect Tim Armstrong for his musical contributions considering Operation Ivy was awesome and Rancid's early stuff was fairly solid imo (however at the time I was into them I was like 13, not sure how much I'd enjoy it these days ) . But they just haven't been doing anything good in quite some time.

I saw Rancid sometime around 1996 at the place that is now City Limits. I got my brother, who was a student at NCSU at the time, to walk to Schoolkids and get me tickets.

Rancid is one of those bands that I never wanted to like, but did anyway. It always seemed like they were trying a little too hard. In an era when I was listening to The Casualties, Aus Rotten, The Pist, and other more "authentic" punk rock bands (whatever that means), I still couldn't help but to toss "Let's Go!" or "...And Out Come The Wolves" in the tape deck every once in a while. It's a little too catchy for my tastes, but you can hear the Op Ivy roots mixed with some straight Chuck Berry/Ramones Rock n Roll in a lot of the songs. I can't help but to lub that Rock n Roll sound.

I'll have to d/l some of those albums. I think my tapes are long gone.

while i'm pretty far out of my "punk" phase, Out Comes the Wolves still get play around here. Fantastic album.

My fiancee's little sister is 19 and all into Rancid. Apparently Tim Armstrong's brother is in Iraq so a lot of this new material is about that. A couple songs on the new one are pretty good.
