And I don't have a problem with people merely liking to watch sports... I have a problem with them being [professional] sports fanatics.... Or really fanatics of any mostly worthless celebrity activity.
Sports "name-dropping" (knowing players names, histories, etc.) is the dumbest shit ever. If you're a statistician by trade, and it helps you stay smart, that's fine. But being proud of your professional sports knowledge simply so you can talk with others about their professional sports knowledge, is fucking stupid. Celebrities are not worth paying attention to. Life is too short and there are way too many meaningful things to experience, that celebrity fanaticism of any kind is absolutely a waste of mental space.
