Tommy Condon's is very good, as is the Italian place next door (owned by the same people, I believe).

Both of those place are actually pretty well below average compared to the other bars and restaurants in Charleston. They're full of tourists (Market district) and have pretty shitty food. Rule #1 in Charleston...try and avoid places on and around Market Street.

I wouldn't call them below average, but I agree that there are better eats away from Market Street.

Ate there years ago. Enjoyed it. Would probably visit again.

i dunno, there is a fabulous steak house on market. insanely good.

^If it's Mercato...they just cleaned house and turned into a spaghetti and meatballs joint. Serious restaurants and bars don't survive on the Market unless they cater to the tourists...which in turn, makes them worse.

oh i wouldnt recommend it for the food, I'd recommend it for the live music and atmosphere. There are better places in Charleston and Mt. Pleasant to eat.

if you go to tommy condon's and manage to NOT have a good time then you just suck. tourists or no, that place is just fun personified! except on st. patty's day of course, it's just silly to try and go there on st. patty's day, way too many people.

i sometimes reallly miss the semi gross poor college student food places. kickin chicken mmm. andolinis mmmm. hoagie haven mmmm. and my personal fav, LaHa(cienda)does gilroys still exist? i blame gilroys for my college weight gain. ordering a medium pizza all to myself at 2am a million times a week was not a good idea. there were other places but i can't remember. i think i ate at joe pasta a lot too. but that was more expensive so that was for classy occasions (like roommate bonding dinners).oh and the east bay deli if we were making the trek to the harris teeter and the tanning bed. lots of way better places to eat but i only went out for seafood when my parents came and paid for it!!
