^^ oh yea. that does seem a little soon i mean, what if you want to get back together don't you leave SOME room for hope?!

sidenote: i am a drunk facebook breaker upper. sometimes i run upstairs and "break up" with my boyfriend (via facebook) and in the morning we wake up and he's like..um...why aren't we in a relationship on facebook anymore. and i'm like, i don't know because you wouldn't take me to get waffle house at 2am??? or sometimes i just don't even remember the reason.

doh.

hahah yeah that's what i was thinking. what if it was just a drunk moment of weakness and you realize the next day that you're meant for each other?!?! kinda embarrassing to change yourself from In A Relationship to Single and then back to In A Relationship within 48hrs.

hahaha omg. i just edited my thing to account for your "drunk moment of weakness" theory

because that is SO me

but i've tried to cut back. because i realized how retarded it looked. ok not looked, IS. it IS retarded.

LOL i guess you can always delete the fact that you changed your relationship status right? like you can go back and delete FB statuses after you post them when you realize they were stupid

oh yea i forgot about that. it has been awhile since i have done it

if i really broke up with someone i don't think i'd change it for a long time. or i'd just take away the relationship status section all together.

i've only had one relationship since the advent of facebook, and i changed my status about 1 minute after breaking up with her...I was way past ready to start pursuing other women.

The more important question is how long is an appropriate length of time to wait before pursuing a chick who is recently single? I mean, you look like an asshole, and opportunist, or both if you move in too soon, but a couple of times, I've waited too long and had someone else take my spot.

It really depends on whether you're using the FB status to tell your friends that you're single or if you're using the FB status to tell your ex that you're single.

why would you care about either of those entities? It's about telling all single members of the opposite sex that you're single.

oooh, which brings up a good question!! how soon after you break up do you defriend? or do you ever defriend? i guess some break ups end amicably, but what happens if it's a crappy break up? do you defriend immediately, or wait a few days and hope the other person doesn't notice they're suddenly down one bitter ex?

why would you bother to wait until they're single? if you're going to look like an opportunist asshole anyway, then make the most of it.

^^^true...its hard to be like "oh well i'll just defriend you" when you were defriended first

i've only defriended a few people and none were ex-bfs

maybe that is weird but none of my relationships have ended badly enough to warrant a facebook defriend

a few FRIENDSHIPS have. well one. and then some weridos from middle school who friended me and i promptly realized that they were psycho so i had to rid myself of their retarded status updates

my defriend/defriended ratio is pretty much 1:1

like 3 or 4 times i've defriended someone, 3 or 4 times i've been defriended

i don't even know when i've been defriended. that is too much effort to keep up with.

but i definitely defriended some bitches during the fall (election time). i mean i have a lot of conservative friends and that is fine but i can only put up with so many borderline retarded people - anyone with overly political (or more just racist/downright stupid) status updates or overly religious updates goes. so you have been warned!

i mean i don't care if someone is like "the president is dumb" or "this is stupid" or whatever but when it is everyday and it is shit like "hang osama" or something, you are a goner. same with the jesus stuff. if you are constantly updating your status with bible verses and god and homosexuals and abortion then i just can't keep you around. moderation is key, people. moderation is key.

^i was going to say something about that but didnt. but i've def see the number change before...just dont know who it was, so i dont count them

but there are 5 that i know of that defriended me(dude from class, the rest wolfweb)...cause i'd search them and see we were not friends anymore

and i can think of at least 4 or 5 i've defriended...maybe one or 2 more i can't remember

yea i've seen the number change. i think one time i thought i was friends with someone and saw them tagged in a picture or something but then we weren't friends. i can't remember who it was but i definitely was like, why the heck did they defriend me. i wish i could remember. because i can't remember if i tried to friend them again.

haha. one time we all defriended my roommate's exboyfriend and then tried to refriend him, he accepted, so we poked him everyday until he defriended us all again.

oh facebook. how you bring a new level of lameness to my life!

If you change your status before you break up, that's too soon.
