"We are writing from the Amazon Associates Program to notify you that your Associates account has been closed as of June 26, 2009. This is a direct result of the unconstitutional tax collection scheme expected to be passed any day now by the North Carolina state legislature (the General Assembly) and signed by the governor. As a result, we will no longer pay any referral fees for customers referred to Amazon.com or Endless.com after June 26. We were forced to take this unfortunate action in anticipation of actual enactment because of uncertainties surrounding the legislation’s effective date.
Please be assured that all qualifying referral fees earned prior to June 26, 2009 will be processed and paid in full in accordance with our regular referral fee schedule. Based on your account closure date of June 26, 2009, any final payments will be paid by September 1, 2009.

In the event that North Carolina repeals this tax collection scheme, we would certainly be happy to re-open our Associates program to North Carolina residents.

The North Carolina General Assembly’s website is http://www.ncleg.net/, and additional information may be obtained from the Performance Marketing Alliance at http://www.performancemarketingalliance.com/.

We have enjoyed working with you and other North Carolina-based participants in the Amazon Associates Program, and wish you all the best in your future.

Best Regards,

The Amazon Associates Team"

^^
People against smoking in the workplace? Do you mean people who privately own the workplace and choose to disallow smoking? I have no problem with them. Do you mean people who are in someone else's privately-owned smoking-allowed workplace, that choose not to smoke there? I have no problem with them. Do you mean groups of people who are in someone else's privately-owned smoking-allowed workplace, that all consensually agree with everyone else to not smoke there? I have no problem with them. Or, do you mean selfish and snobbish people who immorally use their popular majority to compel the use of government force to deny the right of private-workplace owners to allow consensual and legal activities on their workplace property? Yeah, I have a big problem with those nanny-state-supporting assholes.

Adorable kittens? I'm a big fan. One of the biggest. I love all animals. ( What's this? ...Someone who refuses to jump on the bullshit anti-smoking bandwagon actually isn't some heartless republican? What? How can I oppose anti-smoking laws but not be some animal-hating monster? In evan's world, it just doesn't make sense....)

That's my strategy, lol...
Besides, you're a piece of shit for supporting [private] workplace smoking bans.... and I'll never get tired of pointing that out.

I was trying to order some goods from a merchant in Tennessee the other day, but they don't ship to Alabama, Georgia or Tennessee. Why? Because the state legislatures deemed that since they had delivery trucks transiting those states to deliver to local dealers, they were accountable for sales taxes, by county, in each of those three states. They simply weren't set up for that kind of complexity in their shipping department, so they just said fuck it.

I don't blame them.
