It's an upcoming thriller about a couple that adopts a kid. Later they find out that the kid is evil.

I know what you're thinking, and the answer is "no, this idea has never been done before."

Starring Saaaarsgaaaaaaard and the shrink from The Depahhted.

superficial details aside, how is the premise different from The Bad Seed or The Good Son?

I'm sick of "creepy kids" in movies. it's lame and played out. I bet she draws a creepy picture at some point and has some stupid laugh that's supposed to be creepy.

I have hope but not expectations. The Spanish movie The Orphanage was good even though it seemed like the same ole creepy kids movie. And the trailers look good, I like the grayish colors of the movie.

and on another note, the celebrity couple name for Gyllenhaal and Saarsgaard should be "Aaaaaaaah"

I saw this trailer. I think she's more mean/evil than creepy/evil. She gets adopted and then tried to kill the couples real kids so she's the only one the parents will love. Something along those lines.

And her name is Ester...ugh. I think the tag line is "Something's wrong with Ester" I just can't get over that stupid name

The trailer had something about them finding out that the orphanage has no record of her, so I get the feeling that there's a stupid/borderline retarded plot twist.

The twist most likely has to do with something super natural.....ie the Omen

I read the synopsis on Wikipedia b/c I knew I'd never watch it. The twist is about the most retarded thing I've heard of in a while.

Quote :
"Later that night, Esther tries to seduce an inebriated John. John realizes Kate was telling the truth all along, and threatens to call the orphanage. Esther, angry at being spurned, stabs him to death. Max witnesses this and hides in her closet.

As Kate is coming out of sedation, she gets a call from the Saarne Institute's director, Dr. Värava (Karel Roden), who reveals that Esther isn't a 9-year-old girl, but a 33-year-old woman named Leena Klammer. She has hypopituitarism, a disorder that stunted her physical growth, and has spent most of her life posing as a little girl. The doctor tells Kate that Esther is dangerously psychotic, and has killed dozens of people. Kate rushes home, where Esther shoots her in the arm before taking off after Max.

Their chase takes them outside to a frozen pond, where Kate and Esther struggle before falling through broken ice. Kate crawls out of the hole, followed by Esther, who begs for her life, addressing Kate as her mother. Kate angrily responds that she is not her mother, and kicks Esther in the head, breaking her neck and sending her back into the pond to drown."

Not bad. I'm not into the pure gore type films like Saw (i.e., The Collector), so this was a refreshing one to watch. Had a decent plot. Though, there were a lot of plot holes. Enjoyable for the most part.
