Karing for Keely Koncert Series
Presented by Wise Entertainment and Goomah Music Group

Keely Dawn Thompson

Keely’s Story
Keely Dawn Thompson is the oldest of three children of Brian and Vanessa Thompson of Raleigh, NC. Keely just recently turned 4 years old, and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia a few months ago on March 29, 2009. After several surgeries and blood transfusions, Keely then began her chemotherapy treatments. She will need to have chemotherapy for a long 2 ½ years. So far her body is taking the chemo treatments, but it will be a long and hard road to her recovery. Friends and family of the Thompsons are pulling together to help raise money for Keely’s mounting medical bills. Our first benefit event will be three full nights of entertainment and music on the weekend of July 10-12. Please come out and help Keely fight off this disease!

· Friday, July 10th
The night will be packed with great musicians and an array of musical styles all on one stage! On Friday, July 10 at the Berkeley Café in Raleigh, there will be live music by Tennessee Jed w/Wax Planet, Mic Savvy, Sun Up, Son Down, Sleep Control, Beyond, Adam Rottin, Wood, and Mixed Greenz. There is a $10 cover that includes one raffle entry to win a Sony PS3. Additional raffle entries will be available for $3, with all proceeds going to help Keely.

· Saturday, July 11th
Starting at 9pm there will be a Hip Hop/Drum & Bass party at Katmandu in Raleigh. Spinning will be DJ Reverend John & Ricky Rollerblades and DJ Simple. There will be a $5 cover, with all proceeds going towards Keely’s cause.

· Sunday, July 12th
On the final day there will be a mixed bag of entertainment at The Black Flower in Raleigh. Starting a 5:30pm, there will be music courtesy of Wax Planet, Mic Savvy, and Pete Menasian. There will also be comedians King Alex and Mello Mike performing, and a BBQ with lots of good eats off the grill. Many local businesses have also donated great prizes for the raffle drawing that will take place. And if that wasn’t enough reason to come out, there will also be a silent art auction, with works from several of the most talented artists in Raleigh. There will be a $3 cover, will all proceeds going to help Keely.

not to be a party pooper, but charity events designed to benefit one person seem so selfish. why does this girl deserve people's money more than the millions of others in the same situation?

[Edited on July 3, 2009 at 8:32 PM. Reason : when my mom got cancer and did chemo, nobody offered to hold a benefit for her...]

See these people approached my company about doing the benefit. It was not offered as you assume.

However it is amazing what you can put together if you ask around. A lot of people and companies have donated their time and prizes putting this together.

Actually a lot of people have said that they are more willing to donate to a direct person or cause b/c they know that the proceeds are going to reach that specific cause as opposed to donating to some big charity where only a % makes it to the cause.

So Rwoody, I do apologize if you are upset that no one offered to hold a benefit for your mother, but all you had to do is open your mouth and i'm sure you would have received tons of support just as the Thompson family has for their daughter.

there's no way anyone was oblivious enough to not see that "KKK"

to make it worse, the fact that they're willing to let it go shows an obvious disregard for common sense

so in short, fuck that 4 year old

haha, it's like they were intentionally trying to make it KKK by spelling 'Caring' and 'Concert' with a K.

but that aside, I have no desire to see any of these shitty bands, but I would donate a few bucks to the charity directly... Is there a website where one can do this?

i refuse to go to any restaurant/business that intentionally misspells the words in their name

IMO, it's one of the dumbest things a person can do

[Edited on July 4, 2009 at 12:00 PM. Reason : for example, there is a place in Atlantic Beach called Kountry Kitchen that i absolutely hate]

Although, to be fair, the proper spelling is "Crispy Creme," which is still alliterative, so that's a concious decision to use K's for brand recognition as opposed to changing one word to match the other.

[/overthink]
