Firecrackers may be set off individually or in groups.

WTF do you mean, crime doesn't happen here? Nancy Cooper died a mile from my house!

Transformers blow...yes, they do sometimes blow. But not two of them within 5 minutes of each other.

^^^ That doesn't concern you at all. The only crime that happens in Cary is either tame or based on people who knew each other very well.

There are not random robberies and gang shootings in Cary.

You're such a paranoid suburbanite. CUT IT OUT NOW, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! Break the cycle!

when I lived off of South Saunders, all the mexicans stood in the street on 4th of July and New Years and shot guns into the air. Actually, I don't think all of them were smart enough to realize you're supposed to shoot in the air and not just down the road.

there are big firecrackers that arent pop pop pop

like the "cherry bombs" or M-800's or whatever they call them now days

they are just big ass firecrackers, not your typical blackcat strips etc

hopefully the woman learned her lesson after two shots!

if this was a firework, it was bigger than an M-80. it had a distinct cracking sound too, so I doubt it was firework.

That's only true of network systems, and you can count on your balls the number of network systems in this state.

fair enough

though i live in the ghetto

so if there's some antiquated shit anywhere, it's probably here

probably also explains why i think it's dumb to make a thread for gunshots

network systems are usually located in really old downtown areas with large amounts of load in a congested area. The system works rather well for what they're designed to do, but it's really fucking dangerous to work on them.

i went to grab a tube in an old motorola amp once

i could see it, so i just snatched it out of the socket

upon pulling it out, i realized i was less than an inch from touching a filter cap

and the amp had been on less then three minutes earlier

whoops

evan

I was in that thread arguing on your behalf because I happen to find that to be one of the best-planned neighborhoods in Cary, IMO. Haha...

I mean, sidewalks on both sides of the street, ample parking, accessible greenway, accessible park(s), convenient to shopping, and good mid-sized homes (with a mixture of homes from starter homes up to fairly large middle class homes). It's a great neighborhood, as long as your neighbors aren't all renters, hahahaha...

[Edited on July 3, 2009 at 10:48 PM. Reason : And not ragging on the boy. He just has a skewed perception of reality if that's ghetto.]

yeah, there are several houses on one end of our street that are rentals, so coming in on that end is always congested with cars in the street. i typically enter/exit on the other end of the street, since it's kinda like a half-circle.

also, my husband is kinda annoyed that half the houses in this neighborhood seem to be split-levels and he hates split-levels. we absolutely love the area though, and it would be great if the next house we buy was in this neighborhood, but with the abundance of split-levels i'm guessing we'll end up going elsewhere. hopefully not too far, i love being 5 mins from everything.

A fireworks war appears to be brewing on Avent Ferry Rd. Or maybe not. Oh wait, yeah there goes another one.

I've heard fireworks out front. Then fireworks out back. Then more fireworks out front. Then the other guy out back again.

Also, look at the neighborhoods off of walnut street between crossroads and cary towne center if you're looking for similar neighborhoods with a few different housing options. Off of lawrence and nottingham there are neighborhoods with many more two-story homes (many with 2 car garages). The neighborhoods aren't as awesome as seabrook as far as parking and sidewalks go (we'll call that a fault of the 80's build boom in Cary), but the homes may be what you're looking for in most nearly the same area.

the cap had probably bled off by then. at least you had the ability to turn the device off. The problem with network systems is that's you have to work on them energized, because it's damn near impossible to disconnect all the sources. huge amounts of current carrying capacity in a confined space is a scary thought.

realistically, you can get within an inch of the typical distribution systems before the system arcs over. I highly recommend you not get that close though.

I don't think I could ever live on a street directly off of Walnut. Way too much traffic, and most of those side streets don't have a back way out, and they don't have stop lights. Ugh.

there are plenty of non-split level homes to look at in this area. Besides, I'm not completely opposed to living in a split level house. I would rather my next house have a wrap-around porch, and that's not common to any split level house I've ever seen.

last year, right around this time, I was walking home from work and I thought I heard fireworks. Needless to say, the vehicle speeding away, and a guy laying on the sidewalk made me quickly realize that it wasn't fireworks

^^^ If you follow on google maps you'll see the two main neighborhoods between the two shopping centers (on opposing sides of walnut) have a decent number of outlets, and have at least one light you can get to (though with significant weaving through the neighborhood, which would take a couple minutes at most).

I grew up in there so I'm partial to it myself. The lights are actually not bad as far as wait time goes, EXCEPT AT CHRISTMAS.

It's not totally outrageous or anything but you seriously feel like throttling somebody once you sit at one of those lights around christmastime sometimes. The lousy light timing carries over into the night sometimes and you're just sitting there staring at it, waiting for it to change (as no traffic is coming from either way).

Also, one benefit of homes in those neighborhoods is that, if they were built in the 80's, many bypassed awful wood paneling and have nice simple drywall installed instead. Less renovation work for you, and better insulation to boot.

i just want a neighborhood with a muhfuckin pool, kwim? we aren't part of Pirates Cove, even though you would think the whole stretch of Seabrook is one neighborhood - not so!

we don't pay HOA fees, but sadly there's no pool to go to

It's a stretch but it's still a very ghetto-ish area. I've seen true ghetto's and that is certainly not one but it's still a shitty block.
