Dry sockets.

apparently YOU sucked
7/4/2009 12:11:09 AM
Yeah I never had to deal with that.I threw up blood twice after getting my wisdom teeth out, but the recovery process only entailed a minor amount of suck.[Edited on July 4, 2009 at 12:12 AM. Reason : The laser tongue surgery was another, more disgusting and more painful story.]

It was fine for a week. Until today. The pain just developed overnight, and I've been basically incapacitated all day. Use your gauze, kids.
7/4/2009 12:12:58 AM
i used tea bags and brewed blood tea in my mouth all day

Oh yeah, I was on that gauze like a futhermucker. But like I said I was bleeding like a stuck pig. I'm pissed as fuck at people who just recovered with no issues. How did you do that? Oh yeah I was eating solid food by the end of the day, lolz. Took me about five days before I could manage to put a minor bit of pressure on my jaw (to chew) without feeling like somebody was driving a screw into my jaw (on both sides).I really wonder what the fuck they did to get all that blood in my stomach as well. I mean the toilet was just filled with it and I threw up a fuck ton of it. Did the guy responsible for suction just say "fuck it" and go out and smoke for my surgery?

I had zero pain and have been eating whatever I've wanted since the local anesthetic wore off last week. Until this morning.I would have preferred a flurry of kicks to the balls over this.

one of my wisdom teeth has some decay and must be extracted, but now the gum has decided to pour over into the cavity. fun stuff.
7/4/2009 12:26:02 AM
Might want to have that looked at.
7/4/2009 12:27:59 AM
There's nothing quite as enjoyable as a $500+ oral surgery bill.
7/4/2009 12:29:42 AM
Try $2250 for 4 wisdom teeth.Insurance covered zero.
7/4/2009 12:34:39 AM
It took the third post for me to realize that this isn't a buttsecks thread.
7/4/2009 12:35:27 AM
I think we paid $800 and insurance covered the rest, (doc charged $600 and insurance covered a lot because we had hit a deductible that year or something), but oral surgery is sort of like going to the dentist with an extra free kick to the nuts.I like the sedation part of going to the oral surgeon though (although I was 100% awake the whole time as he used a laser to cut out part of my tongue and stitch it together again). One bad experience w/ the dentist kinda fucked up that fun business.[Edited on July 4, 2009 at 12:37 AM. Reason : ^ I tend to make most threads unenjoyable.]

i'm hoping for an interest free payment plan, nitrous during, and like 90 hydrocodone at the end.
7/4/2009 12:38:36 AM
They gave me percocet, but I haven't taken any of it.I'm abusing advil, though.
7/4/2009 12:51:01 AM
I was given nitrous, then knocked out with some magic juice through a butterfly IV (only woke up once during surgery and I guess they noticed because I passed out shortly thereafter), and they gave me vicodin and ibuprofen for recovery. I only used the ibuprofen because I didn't want to be a drugged up mess that slept 18 hours out of the day. Those docs sure do make sure to hand out the good shit though. If I didn't feel like being a tuff guy about it I would've just taken the vicodin and slept for about a week while my body tried to fix whatever the fuck those guys broke.[Edited on July 4, 2009 at 12:52 AM. Reason : ^ Seriously advil works fantastic on pain from wisdom teeth surgery. They gave me horse pills tho.]
7/4/2009 12:51:33 AM
I also got nitrous prior to the IV. It was the second time I had been given Nitrous, and the first time it didn't have any effect on me. Needless to say, when it actually worked this time, I started laughing and couldn't stop for at least 10 minutes.I ruined their schedule for the rest of the day.

I had a dry socket when I was in college. It hurt like hell and the novacaine didn't do much when the doctor cut it open. I drove to Wilmington from home (35 mi) to get it drained and then from Wilmington to Raleigh with it hurting bad and only some ibuprofen for the pain. Not a fun trip.
7/4/2009 1:17:15 AM
You DROVE with this pain?
7/4/2009 1:22:48 AM
yeah, but thinking back it was pretty stupid. I was flying down 40 in a raggedy ass old truck and hurting bad. They told me I couldn't drink from a straw but they didn't say anything about smoking, so I smoked several Swisher Sweets on the way and maybe the nicotine dulled the pain.
7/4/2009 1:30:01 AM
Smoking was probably the worst thing you could have done.
