the verbal tip was always the worst for me...

thehy go out of their way to tell you how fantastic everything was, then leave you 15% or less

^servers make 2.16 an hour... employers DO NOT pay them, unless the tips they make are not enough to cover the minimum wage for their hours worked...

unfortunately, there's no way to tell what tables are going to suck ass and which are going to be bank. obviously tables of 8 or more its an automatic grat, but other than that, no way to know.

i've had multiple situations where the table was awesome to me and super nice, a $100 bill, and they'd leave $10.

when i have to put my empty drink on the side of the table it means it will be a bad tip...it should never be empty and if so I shouldnt have to put it on the side of a table...hell, one time I went a got a refill myself....while she was talking to friends....

one thing that usually makes me tip less is if i need to be somewhere and i have to wait a long time for the bill.... when the restaurant is dead and we finished eating and drinking 15 minutes ago , i dont like waiting for the bill beyond that.

she deserves to get tips BECAUSE she chose to work a job that pays $2.13/hr. It's 'assumed' that she will have supplementary income (tips).

without reading the preceding posts, I round up to the next dollar, tip 20%, and then often times leave the multiplication just so the waitor/waitress knows. (but it's actually just easy to think of it as 10% of what you want to tip, doubled and since I round up a dollar it's always simple math)
