What speed is the modem? I got a second phone line put in last week and I'm excited about trying out this new Mindspring account I signed up for. Apparently they call it the "internet" and I can use it to watch asian porn.

So lemme know, thanks.

office is only 'legit' if it comes with a COA sticker on the case/a COA card with the computer. Otherwise it is only legit till you reinstalled it on your second pc.

The monitor is worth $free, or pay ,me to haul it to a trash dump, either way.

The OEM XP sticker is worth a little IF it has the original CD, as quite a few of the OEM ones from major brands throw a fit and require phone calls to make them work with a fresh non branded SP3 install.
Missing a cord means the speakers are probably worth $0.00, as a new set will cost the same as a new cable.
I have found machines for FREE that have 1.5-2.5 GHZ singe cores.
Yours is a p4 generation celeron unit, and with 512 mb of ram will need major ram upgrades to even run windows plus a modern browser well, much less play dvds well.
Throw in the probable built in video card, assuming you never upgraded, and the 2X agp slot, and you have a machine, that to be generous, is worth $25 only so I don't have to get one of my spares working to use as a second 'guest' machine in my living room.

I just looked at the image you had of it, that is a 2001 era sears special, the "Sears Exclusive economy computer' that was the competition for the E-Machines stuff.

Please feel free to come by and test it on my TW internet or play dvds.

Please advise me where i can obtain these "free" non-actual-floppy computers that use Windows XP or higher rather than DOS.

Thanks for the bump.

you can get P4 PCs around 2.4-3.0ghz w/ 512MB of RAM for around $100....i sell them for $100 w/ 1GB of RAM and a 200GB hard drive.

I gave this exact computer to my friend for free. I have about 4 old Dell's that I got for free from a guy on CL. Its possible.

I have hauled off and stripped for parts at least 20 machines that were 2001 or later manufacture dates. All these were 'free' boxes that had been taken out of service at various business locations and the harddrives wiped, or in some cases totally removed as a security measure. There are quite a few folks who do nothing but scavenge similar deals, Frankenstein together the result into 'modern enough' boxes, and sell them cheap.

I'll repeat, where can i actually get these computers though apparently on the regular?

^^Also, do you have any more of those P4s with 200gb for "free".....and does it also come with a monitor as well.

Thanks,

so i really want to kick this troll thread to chit chat where it belongs, but he posted a legit phone number for some lawyer dude...

so its either

a) a troll thread with some dudes actual phone number posted as a joke (very clever. gg. all that)

or

b) somebody has absolutely no idea what shit is worth...and given the fact that this user has sold pc shit before (for cheap), and the fact that he's murdering the english language where he hasn't before, i'm more included to go with a.

WHAT SAY YOU TWW?

^^ Well, B could very well be possible. As a totally unrelated event that sort of provides a clearer picture of how ignorant many people can be when it comes to technology (and thus how quickly it advances and how rapidly older technology devalues), allow me to describe (in short) the amusing conversation I had on the phone today. I was using google maps to figure out where the nearest fire station was to my apartment for getting an insurance policy, and then I used google street view to see if there was a fire hydrant out in front of the place so I could get more discounts. She was amazed at how quickly google maps worked to find the fire hydrant, but she started babbling and went "WOOOOOOOW" when I described that google paid people to drive around in cars with cameras on them to take pictures of things at the street level which is how I saw the fire hydrant in "street view". It was at this point that I decided that all the stereotypes about people who are old enough to be my parents and their ability to use technology were true, and I could easily see those same people as seeing a computer like this as still being worth some appreciable amount of money.

But since this is TWW it's just a troll thread and there should be a catfish picturebomb after this post.
