1. buy an ad

2. site sucks
standard wordpress theme

3. there are tons of sites that do the same thing better and aren't the opinion of one person

urbanspoon - great reviews in the area, i have posted a good many and can do most things even post pictures of the menu from my iphone
citysearch
yelp
etc

the benefit of this site is that it is just two peoples opinions.

why do you want advice from a site where people only write in if they had a bad experience, or are really cheap and want to complain about only getting 2 eggrolls in an appetizer for $4.

this way, you can look at our site for consistent, honest detailed opinions

I've been in internet marketing for about 3 years now, web development for 7, I've literally monetized hundreds of sites, and while this isn't step one, it's certainly in the top 5....install a professional looking theme and remove the wordpress favicon..

Also, if you want your reviews to get indexed, you'll want to post the reviews as text, not images, furthermore...actually, just hire me and call it a day.

aha, I too don't give a shit about the opinion of someone who loves Cary.

I just read through some of the reviews, and the motherfucker is talking about a lunch costing $27 being the "best lunch deal in town"...ridiculous.

Some good restaurant reviews, on a website made in Raleigh by Raleighites

http://raleigh.ohsohandy.com/reviews/category/restaurants

(I know this is classifieds, just posting this as a contrast to the OP site)

i hardly see this as a benefit.

crowdsourcing ftw. yelp and urbanspoon are far superior.

also, lol at the reviews:
Quote :
"Danny– Good Mexican food, no complaints. Good Margarita.

Jessica- Definitely like the Mexican food here. Would come back."

VERY INFORMATIVE!

^^ You could just as easily hit up zspotlight or citysearch for that then and get better info. This guy's talking like he's got more objective and informed opinions than you'll find at your average website, but so far hasn't delivered (i.e. the reviews aren't nearly as detailed as others out there, so objectivity was saved at the expense of information).

I always look to poorly-designed sites with minimal content, slow loading images, bizarre capitalization errors, and awesome ratings like LUCKY TO LOSE LESS. GG on failing horribly.

How are these comments from your website any better? (hint--they're not!)

Why should I read your reviews? Do you have any culinary experience? Are you an amateur chef? Do you cook as a hobby?

Why should I trust your review of Carolina Ale House chicken tenders over someone else's?

Quote :
"Danny- Chicken Parmesan was very close to what you get in NY."

What the fuck does this even mean? Is NY chicken parmesan the end-all-be-all of chicken parmesan? You sound like every other dumbshit that moves someplace new and is disappointed it's not like the place you left. "Where I'm from..."

I am impressed that you apparently ate and reviewed 6 restaurants in one day.

You do realize that there are a TON of people that relocate to the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area from the North, and that they always complain that they can't find food, especially Italian, that is the same quality that you can find in NY.

Quote :
"When you think of New York State food, you'll probably first think about New York City's restaurant scene -- and that's no surprise. New York City is certainly the food capital of the United States, and, some would argue, the entire world."

http://culinarytravel.about.com/od/unitedstates/a/Best_Food_NY.htm

So, yes I think that since our blog has the opinion of someone that just moved here from NY, and someone from Raleigh we provide a rounded opinion that might be useful for others that have moved here.

You have managed to quote the comments on just OK food--maybe it would be more rounded if you also quoted the comments on bad or great food.

Also, a friend from work told me that TWWers would ream me if I posted my website on here. I didn't believe him when he said TWWers rip people apart for fun, but thanks for living up to what he said. Yes, college kids that spend all of their time on a forum are the EXPERTS on every subject.

no offense, but you're on a college website, saying a $27 lunch is cheap. You brought the flame on yourself. I'm a foodie myself. My suggestion is to go find cheaper places that still have good food. Try the cafeteria in the western bowling alley, the best meat loaf IMO.

If your goal is to review restaurants for relocated New Yorkers, then do that. Don't try to pass it off as "Raleigh's favorite Restaurant Review" when you're trying to find places New Yorkers might like.

Anyway...your website is not memorable. More importantly, the content isn't either. The 'reviews' are just comments:

Quote :
"Jessica- I didn’t love my entree (penne alla casa), but I did LOVE the salad I ordered (it was on the specials menu, fresh white corn summer salad). The sauce on the entree was very rich. The salad had such a great flavor, white corn, tomatoes and an awesome dressing."

Quote :
"Danny- Always have good food when we come here. This past time I had a rack of ribs, very good. Great place to watch a game."

"I ate this and I liked it." "I ate that and didn't like it."

There's no review here. Why should I eat the ribs at Carolina Ale House? Why should I avoid Daniel's penne alla casa? What makes your opinion valuable to readers? Why should I spend time reading your blog when you can't find enough time to write more than one or two sentences?

Your website offers nothing to differentiate it from the million other review sites that are out there.

Quote :
"You have managed to quote the comments on just OK food--maybe it would be more rounded if you also quoted the comments on bad or great food."

You managed to pick the worst of four P.F. Chang's reviews (not that the others were fantastic). Perhaps you can highlight some of your quality reviews for us, since we can't seem to find them on our own.

Quote :
"they always complain that they can't find food, especially Italian, that is the same quality that you can find in NY."

You're not in New York. Raleigh isn't NY and isn't trying to be. Instead of comparing/contrasting the present with the past, why not find and enjoy things that are unique to where you are right now?

Quote :
"Also, a friend from work told me that TWWers would ream me if I posted my website on here. I didn't believe him when he said TWWers rip people apart for fun, but thanks for living up to what he said."

lol. Perhaps the response would've been different had you actually asked for feedback vice 'hey guyz check out this super awesome restaurant review site'

1) Like someone else said, you quote only the shortest P.F. Chang's review. When normal people leave reviews about anything, yes, some will not be so helpful. That's why you can agree or disagree with each comment.
2) Its design is better than yours.
3) It gets more traffic.
4) It's not just the opinion of two people.

Your site does have potential. But there'd have to be a lot of changes to it in order for it to really succeed. Good luck with it.

if your content sucks, your site sucks. learn how to review restaurants/food. need moar detail.

and i love how NOTHING in NC can surpass the food in NY. occasionally something will come close to meeting it, but never will it be better.

all that said, i'll put the standard internet bashing aside and say a couple of the reviews were ok...i'm a little inclined to try the reuben at boondini's now
