My old dog was named Nikki when we got him. Yes, him. Why someone would name a boy dog a chick name is beyond me.

Oh he is now about 3 or 4, I got him when he was just neutered. I got him from a rescue. I wanted a Siamese and he is a "flame point". He is an awesome cat. He plays fetch, chills and isnt too needy. The only problem I had was that he pissed out of his litter box all the time. It wasnt marking or spraying,he was just plain pissing. This went on for over a year, I put him on Prozac and havent had an issue since.

yes everything was normal. we tried other drugs and they didnt work. one vet suggested putting him down, so i took him to another vet who is a personal friend and i think that made the difference that she really cared and really wanted to help

everybody in my family had a different name for it

i called it cat, my aunt called it kitkat, my mama called it mama cat, etc

all i'm asking is if anyone has had a cat that actually reponded to its name. my dad's chihuahua will come when you say "scooter" or "scoot", but not to just normal conversation or even yelling.

i knew a guy that named his dog Diogee (pronounced D-O-G).

^ yes. my old cat Barney would respond to his name. my current cat responds to Kitty Meow Meow. although that's not his name, that's what we always call him. (his nickname if you will)

yup, he's a full-blown polydactyl. one extra (complete, functional) toe on each foot and an additional pad/nail (no bone) on his front right foot. we joke that his extra toes make up for the missing leg of our other cat.

Yes...

Mine does, too. And it doesn't matter how you say it -- he knows.
Besides, a name is for more than just calling them.
For instance, cars have brand names and make names, and many people give them other names. However, unless you are Michael Knight, your car isn't going to come when you call it. Imagine your 4 cars had no names... no brand names, no make names, and you didn't name them. Also, lets say they're all cars of the similar color.
"I'm taking the car to town!"
"Which car?"
"The..... one parked by the tree"
"You mean the old red one?"
"No, the other old red one"
"Which one???"

You see, names are useful for even non-living things... Certainly living things that are a part of your family deserve names.
What would your holiday card say?..."Happy Holidays, from Bob, Sue, Jimmy, and the cat"

Think about it.
The assertions "men do not have cats." and "straight men do not have cats" are both 100% false. So why make them?
To be funny? No, there's nothing funny about it.
To beat your chest in a stupid display of machismo? Not quite, but getting closer.
To attempt to look normal and manly, so that no one suspects that you're really a closet homosexual? Ding, ding, ding.
